2022 Transfer Season

I think a lot depends on how Vic views his younger perimeter players that are on the roster /coming in. The players are there, the known production isn't. You have Shay Holle as a wing. Kyndall as the backup PG/combo guard if she doesn't enter the portal in the next few days. Kobe as a guard, along with Ndjakalenga as a wing. If we strike out on Lauren Fields there would certainly be some question marks with the guard /wing players opposite Matharu.

It's official...the Big 12 will be anything but boring again next season. If we want it, we'll have to beat some really good competition to get it.

Side note: I still don't get what is so attractive about Jerusalem-On-The-Brazos Baylor... especially with the HOF coach who built the program gone.
 
If Edwards and Blackwell were intent on transferring to the same school and guaranteed starting spots, there really weren't many choices other than Baylor. They did visit Baylor together; all other visits were hush-hush (other than Blackwell having visited Ole Miss).

I'll be interested to see if Baylor can any add any depth at those same positions. I mean, who additionally would want to transfer and be back-ups to those two sure-fire starters? Each will probably only be at Baylor one season, and then Cullen has to do this all over again one year from now. Still, she plugged immediate holes; so, that will allow her to breathe easier.
 
With Duke securing its second transfer from Oregon State this week in Corosdale, they might be full on scholarships. So, there might not be room for Lattimore or Lauren Fields. Guess we'll find out eventually.

The second time in a row that she was committed / signed to a school and didn't go there. Maybe LSU told her to find another school in favor of Reese. Arizona doesn't make any sense for her IMO with Cat Reese returning. They currently have only 9 players but PF isn't one of need. But it's just another reason why I think Fields ends up there.

I thought Fields' visit to UA was on Wed/Thurs of this week? Officials can only last 48 hrs per NCAA rules if I remember correctly. Maybe this photo was from a few days ago, but Esmery still would have been a tiger then. Don't think she could have visited unless LSU let her out of her agreement.

Well, she's transferring out of Boston College and we all know where Vic and Blair spent the past couple of days. From looking at video clips, I really like her game.

Amazing how many have gone by the wayside. We got a nice one but good lord we need more portal help. Wonder if this is a reflection on our dearth of coaches.
 
I’ll say the same thing I said last year: maybe Vic has more confidence in his roster than some on horn fans. I’ll add that If he takes more transfers with multiple years of eligibility then the roster doesn’t have room for all of those “ooh la la” players in 2023 that fans say we want or need so bad. Unless it is ok to shove players out to make room for the next highly ranked prep player or portal entrant.
 
I think a lot players are looking to start or get plenty playing time at next school of choice.Coming to Texas you got to bring a A game to break into that playing time.

He brought in Lauren Fields for an official visit. I don't think he does that if he doesn't want her on his roster.

So, what were you trying to say in your post that Vic has more confidence in his roster than posters on here? "Obviously" Vic wanted her on his roster, and so did some posters on here. What does confidence have to do with that?
 
So it appears that we have 3 roster spots open for this season. We need another post for sure. Assuming another guard is desired as well since Vic was recruiting one. And it seems like he's trying to find someone to replace Audrey (whether guard or forward), at a minimum, to compensate for her loss on the defensive side. But since there isn't much coverage of WBB recruiting, I guess we really have no idea if Vic and staff are in communication with other portal prospects?

I think some fans have fallen into the infatuation of the portal. I've stated from the beginning that the Center position was the biggest need, and they added one of the best if not the best in the portal. With Fields going to Arizona, I think whether or not Kyndell ends up in the portal is important interms of another perimeter player being a pressing need. Another Center as a backup is also something to obviously look into.

If not, Vic is going to have to do what coaches have been doing for years before the transfer portal. Which is to develop the talent that he has coming in as freshmen and that are already on the roster.
