2022 Softball transfers

She was filthy against Texas in the regional.

All four of Arizona State pitchers in portal:

Mac Morgan FR probably ace/best but not big strike out pitcher like I prefer

Allison Royalty SOPH From Texas originally was filthy before not sure why her numbers were so down.

Lindsay Lopez JR LHP

Marissa Schuld SR
Arizona State pitchers probably going to A&M with their coach. At least a few of them I bet.

Wonder if they will follow Ford to aggie. I would take Lopez as well. I would ultimately like for Texas to add two pitchers. One lefty and one righty. I’ll take Yanez or Lopez on the left and I really wanted Storako but it’s still early so plenty of good pitchers will enter. My ultimate wish list would be for Sanders of ASU to enter the portal and Mike White comes in and snatches her up.

I was hoping for a shot at Gottshall. Who you got as top (unsigned) pitchers left?
1. Alexis Kylfoy - Alabama
2. Brooke Yanez - Oregon
3. One of the 4 AZ pitchers?

I mean they all 4 can't transfer to A&M right? No team has ever lost 4 players to the new school as their ex-coach right? I mean....ha-ha.... I mean....

Part of me feels like White may try to take from as much as he can pitching wise from the portal but even at Oregon I feel like he was big on just recruiting. Does anyone else feel that way? He seems like the type that likes certain types of players and if someone doesn’t fit that mold he isn’t interested. This will be his fourth full year now? He finds a way to pull big recruits imo. But with a champ series run I think lots of players will be interested in playing for him. We just need consistency in defense badly.

I would really like to get Brooke Yanez from Oregon if we can get the Yanez of 2 years ago. She pitched the game we lost 2-3 and forced us to play the past midnight game. Not sure what her injury was she was a big strong athlete pitcher that pretty much dominated us. We got 8 hits but she had 8 strikeouts. And she went 22-8 for the year.

Also, Brianna Cantu in the portal, supposedly. Getting this from a web site that lists her as Brianna Aranzeta. A bit of Googling shows her full name to be Brianna Aranzeta Cantu.

This is the second transfer for Brianna. Does she have to set out a year?

Good luck to Brianna. After 1 year at Texas Tech, and 2 years at Texas, she has received her undergraduate degree a year early. She did get a waiver 2 years ago to play immediately at Texas; but, this time around she's likely to be transferring as a grad-transfer. Two years of eligibility remaining.

Interesting Spring grad posting.
1. Done 3 weeks ago! I must have zoned out on it; assuming to be same names as those for Senior day game
2. Colleen Sullivan still in good standing with the team to be mentioned since she's been off the team for a year
3. I guess Molly's off for another coaching job so that......Hailey gets to take her spot? (total guess on my part)
4. Good for Cantu getting a degree in 3 years!
5. No mention of O'Leary graduating in Spring?

JJ Smith is in the portal.

JJ joins Ratliffe and Cantu.
Is JJ a surprise? Most project Cimusz to be the starting catcher next season. I never quite understood how White played Cimusz and White. Cimusz seemed very quiet offensively in the WCWS, while Smith had some huge moments for the team.

Still, JJ hit .282 on the season compared to Cimusz's .244, while Cimusz started 57 of 60 games played, while White started 26 of 42 games played; huge disparity in playing time it seems.

I thought O'Leary graduated in December or Spring 2021; don't recall for sure.

It's sad but understandable. While both players' hitting was very up and down, Cimusz (in my opinion) had a better glove behind the plate. And Mike's bringing in another catcher next year and must have had the talk with her about her future playing prospects.

I don’t think it’s surprising and I don’t think it’s a huge loss. I think we are recruiting and bringing in via transfer portal better players and she still would’ve fought for playing time next season too.

So this is who we have in the portal currently. Please correct or add if I’m wrong or missing anyone.
- JJ smith
- Bri Cantu
- Carlee Ratcliff

Cydney Sanders if officially in the portal out of ASU. If it’s one non pitcher transfer that I would want it’s her. Texas needs to throw everything they got to get her. Heard Oklahoma is also going hard for her.

According to posts on other forums, she's already following OU_Softball and Tiare Jennings Instagrm accounts.

I think he is more likely to use the transfer portal now more than ever before, especially for pitchers. While the reasons might differ, Coach White has whiffed on a few pitchers he signed out of high school while at Texas: Grace Green and Ryleigh White come to mind. Sophia Simpson still has to prove herself in the course of an entire season, but she showed big strides in her game at Arkansas in the Super Regional.

White has done much better with transfer pitchers like Miranda Elish, Molly Jacobsen, Estelle Czech, and Hailey Dolcini.
