2022 Softball transfers

This covid extra year of eligibility has really messed things up. Too many talented players and not enough spots. Then the portal gives players the feeling of "I can go somewhere else" when they're competing against a 6th year senior when in reality there isnt anywhere else. Does anyone know when the extra year will stop being granted?
It will stop being granted after the class of 2020 graduates

Should be the 2024 season, the freshmen from 2020 were classified as SO instead of JR this season.

Thanks for the updates on the extra year. I said from the get go that it was a dumb idea. My daughter was a HS senior in 2020 and lost pretty much the entire season. It was sad, but so what and move on. It just causes a big log jam.

Has anyone heard any update on the status of Carlee Ratcliff's transfer? She seems to be the only player that went into the transfer portal from Texas that has not found another place to play?

I do believe Texas will add a few more transfers in the fall. No way Mike White is done with this pitching staff and I’m sure he will add another big bat. I say we need another experienced catcher and outfielder. Probably a 1st baseman as well if Brandon can’t break into the lineup.

I saw on Carlee Ratcliff’s instagram account that she has in the header Arkansas ‘24? No word if she is going to play softball or just attendance? Good luck to her whatever her decision.

What’s this all about? Little late in the year to transfer? Is she worth picking up?

She would be a great pickup and Texas needs to go after her. She’s a catcher which is a position of need and has a lot of power. I just watched a couple videos of her and with some adjustments to her swing she can easily hit 20+ HR in a season.

I guess this includes Kate Dack out of aTm? She may have to wait until December to actually transfer. Can she proceed in talking to other schools and other schools contact her??

I was like, "wait, why is that name so familiar?" And then looking her up, I see she's Florida (that's where!) -> A&M (hates the new coach) -> Tech (let's try this coach)
And then I remember "Oh yeah, they fired their softball coach AGAIN"
Texas Tech fires softball coach after two seasons
Craig Snyder, the new coach at Tech, was her assistant coach at A&M and if I’m not mistaken had been involved with Herzog in some capacity before A&M as well; Herzog is a great two-way player. Big get for Snyder and Tech.

and this has to be what their 4th coach in 6 or 7 seasons? Crazy.

Ahhh yes. Well, hopefully he'll get more time than the last couple of coaches. The trick is to hope that Kirby Holcutt retires or changes jobs before he gets a chance to fire Snyder! He's burned through women basketball coaches as well.

Were there any allegations of abuse towards coach Ward? That is why both Stallings(WBB) and Gregory were let go. Ward being fired after only 2 seasons seems odd.

I heard there were grumblings. Something like, "Well she's going to sue!' and then "Well she was a bit rough with some of the players" and then it all died down. It was a shocker since I heard her on a podcast talking about her excitement for taking the job right after she was offered and accepted. Yeah, she had two straight losing seasons, but I didn't think Tech took softball all that seriously.
