2022 Softball Season

Game on ESPN+

1. ESPN+ had technical difficulties so no broadcast of the NT game
2. Neither NT or Texas had a live stats link
3. Had to go to the SB twitter page to get the condensed summation of the game
4. Horns win 8-2

Hey, a win against an opponent that was statistically better than us in every way!

Looks like our games today have been cancelled due to “cold weather”. Texas can’t catch a break. Everytime we travel the weather is perfect and when we play in Austin it gets cold and rainy.

Huh?? I've played softball with snow on the ground. And if it were Minn's tourney it would be 10 deg.

What a bunch of wimps.

Jordyn Whittaker’s batting has gone to heck! She is not even making contact with the ball and swinging at bad pitches. Coach White keeps giving her a chance to get out of her slump but she just keeps disappointing. Last year she came thru with some big hits. Seems she has lost all confidence this year.
Shea O’Leary is the same. I thought this year Dolcini would be our ace with O’Leary being our 2 pitcher and Simpson being 3 and Czech our ace reliever. So far Simpson is our ace with Dolcini and Czech our 2&3 pitchers. O’Leary is not even a good reliever. She’s lost it.

Good win on to game two.

Still going mad with some of our offensive mental lapses. If a pitcher is struggling to throw strikes how are we not putting a take sign on in counts 2-0, 3-0.

Negatives: Once again a runner scores on a Mary Iakopo passed ball that if not deflected would of hit her in the chest. Please stop trying to make Jordyn Whitaker happen.

Positives: Really impressed with Katie Cimusz, the ball just comes off her bat different. Czeck was filthy.

Another good win! We are pulling it together some. That looked like the Dolcini we had been waiting for. Parker coming to life.

Anyone know why O’Leary was pulled out so early? It looked to me Mike White wanted to get things settled put Dolcini in since she has struggled in 1st innings in previous games. He also pulled Simpson out early so I don’t know if it was to throw off Louisiana or he just didn’t like what he was seeing from Simpson & O’Leary early on.

I think for both Simpson and O'Leary they didn't have obvious control of their pitches, much less the strike zone. He's learning now to pull the plug on them earlier rather than give them time to work it out for themselves, especially since we're halfway into our season.

Czech impresses me more with every game.

Big win! Need a couple more! Czeck got the start and pitched a 3H 1 BB 5K shut out. Lets keep it going.
She’s our Ace at this point. She has been amazing this season and to pitch a 3 hit shutout vs an LSU team who put up 15 hits and 13 runs against Montana Fouts just shows not only her confidence but it shows she is able to step up in big games. I like what this team has been doing recently we just need to keep it going

Certainly seem to be finding their groove, the best thing about Estelle is she throws strikes! Something the rest of our staff just can’t seem to do. 3 straight wins against 3 ranked opponents, certainly seems the girls are finding their footing After a terrible start to the season.

intrigued to watch how Simpson and Dolcini pitch tomorrow after neither getting the game one nod

This is exactly right! 2 weeks ago I said Simpson was our ace and game one starter but she and O’Leary have completely lost there confidence. Simpson did so good against Alabama? Now she looks so scared to throw a strike or maybe she’s just over throwing? Whatever it is we need one of those guys to help us to make the run we are expecting from this team.

This team has found its groove and more importantly we have found a consistent lineup that plays well defensively and can light it up offensively.

Was at the double-header:
1. I wanted to leave the second game at the bottom of the 3rd inning, but my wife wouldn't budge
2. I'm not sure I've been ever more embarrassed with the fielding issues in the 3rd inning with errors by first base, pitcher, and catcher
3. Someone found out from talking to Simpson's mom that she's dealing with a shoulder issue. They thought she might pitch one inning in either game today to start getting her back into the groove
4. It took me a while to realize that between the first and second game that "15" was in the dugout throwing. Wait....that's Day?!
5. But then when she trotted out to the right field and I saw O'Leary on the mound, I groaned
6. And then the quick hook of O'Leary with the replacement of Day made sense
7. No sightings of Hulon
8. A brief sighting of Quiroga going into the bullpen and then quickly out of the pen
9. During the signing of the eyes of Texas, Mike had his hands up, but wasn't singing and was more like looking around the stadium trying to soak in that all these people stayed to the end
10. There was one big JERK LSU fan. He was to the back of me, so I don't know who he was. But you could sense that the things he was saying was also embarrassing his fellow LSU fans
11. Parker, clutch. 2 years ago she would have hit a high infield pop up.

Aren't you glad your wife took charge??..lol
Earlier in the season we woulda hung our heads. Not today. I beleive because you/lots of fans stayed the team was fired up with Texas Fight!
Could be a Special Season.

I listened to the game on the radio while watching NCAA BB tournament games on tv. So glad I hung in there, what a game!!!! White has found his team!

Anyone else think Cat is doing an amazing job with the color commentary on LHN? I watch alot of softball on ESPN+ and in my opinion we have the most evenly called games.

She’s doing amazing and gives really good insight and tells it how it is good or bad which I respect the most. I can easily see her calling the college World Series some time in the future.

It took a while for me to realize it was her broadcasting. There aren't the typical "ummms" and "uhhhs" that you hear from newbies thinking of things to do next. But in the course of her career, she has been in front of the camera many times and so maybe not so surprising.

Parker comes up clutch with two outs in the 7th again. You can tell the Texas State pitcher and Sophia Simpson went to the same pitching coach and High school. Similar stuff and demeanor.
