2022 Recruiting - Football

It's my opinion that Alabama and Ohio State have dominant lines. Everything goes from there.

I know some of you disagree, but I truly believe we have undeveloped talent at OL. I too would love to see some 5star action here, but I don’t think recruits will buy in until they see it on the field. The last 2 years of lack luster production was due to missed assignments and poor, predictable play calling. Let’s see what our new staff pulls together, then recruits can see the results and not just what was done at Bama with boat loads of talented kids. The program will take time to develop, let’s give them a chance to prove it for mor than 2-3 years.

Sell

The bag men haven’t hit the streets yet, and we don’t have any.

I’ll judge this class in two years when the smoke clears the portal.

It seems the new staff would agree with you there. They talk about Denzel Okafor (who, arguably, has under-impressed on the field thus far) like he was the second coming of Jerry Sizemore, Dan Neil, or Justin Blaylock.

I hope they're onto something...
Could be...
Maybe he'll even be our first 1st rounder on the OL in a while.
Raw talent + coaching/development = good player.

Denzel Okafor - Football - University of Texas Athletics
There's no arguably about it for me. This will be his 6th year in the program. I'd prefer seeing what Johnson and Hookfin can do. I'll french kiss a camel on the south mall if he's a 1st round draft choice.

It was a bit of a (pleasant) surprise for me as well. The new coaching staff has been very high on Denzel Okafor.

Duke, you'll have to give me an example of a team that won with "just" a transcendent player? I simply can't think of any other than Louisville with Lamar, and they didn't win against the best.

Ricky had a great OL. Vince had a very good OL. Texas hasn't had a really good OL since Colt's JR year and the only way Texas is going to be back the NC picture again is with at least a very good OL. It doesn't have to be a bunch of 5*'s, but there has to be some *** kickers like Casey Studdard and Justin Blalock in the mix.

And that would include the DL too.
Run, try these:

Deshaun Watson
Tua Tagovailoa
Trevor Lawrence

I’m not arguing that these players didn’t have excellent O-lines. What I am arguing though is that without their transcendent play, none of those teams would have won a natty.

Colt’s line in 2009 was not epic. He raised the level around him.

D’Onta won the Doak Walker with a mediocre line.

Don’t get me wrong, I want a stellar O-Line. But my argument is that to an extent, a great QB or great RB can make a good line great. We have more than adequate O-line talent to have a very good offensive team this year.

One more: Joe Burrow. What is LSU without him, and how was their O-Line?

I see that as a negative

I did too at first Poms. But ...

I read on another board just now that IT thinks it is a positive because Aranda did a good job selling early playing time and waco being a small town like Texarkana ...

Based on that, I think the extra time gives Sark a chance to counter strike with more Leverage, NIL, Player Development, etc.
