2022 Recruiting - Football

Okay - I asked for a couple of OL commits to get the ball rolling, and it looks like it's starting. Good work by the staff - but we still need to see some more OL commits (and preferably "elite" players). But it's definitely a good start.
Well you might be "connected" so I hope you are saying a few prayers right now:arrow-up:

Ok. I'll play. . ."he's not that good anyway"

Now that's out of the way, I wish him good luck except when they play the Horns.

Now hearing some not so good news on Banks. Lets just say OL recruiting seems to be a mystery for this football program.
Same here. Didn't want be the one to break the bad news. Roach at IT has dropped his confidence level to 1. Looking like the aggies or Oregon.

I think we’re still in good shape with Devon Campbell 5 star ***** OG from Arlington Bowie—a school we’ve had some good success recruiting.

Yeah, I didn't want to come out with it yet. Was keeping fingers crossed..
But,,
From OrangeBloods' latest update at 9 p.m. on OL Kelvin Banks of Humble Summer Creek, they expect it to be A&M or Oregon tomorrow.

Crazy get for them as they offered very late.
I wonder if Ohio State has developed or has some kind of built in NIL advantage to offer recruits and they are already excelling at promoting. The college has the whole state to itself except for Cincinnati. Big fan base.
I wonder if this, plus the success of the team, influences recruits like brooks.
They put on a good sell.
So we need to excel, have our ducks in a row when it comes to promoting NIL.

I'm tempted to think it might well be Oregon. Everything I was hearing and reading was we and the aggies were dead even. Then Williams.commits to Oregon a few days ago and Banks moves up his announcement date. Know nothing about what if any kind of relationship they have but the idea of two Texas kids going to the same school so far away could hold some appeal. Especially seeing as guys playing in the same unit tend to be tight.

Reportedly CJ Williams has something to announce today … lots of Irish smoke but …we got Maalik in our corner

OrangeBloods is expecting DT KJ Miles of Jersey City, NJ to pick Georgia Tech today.

- They feel CB Xavion Brice of Arlington Seguin will commit to Oklahoma.

- WR CJ Williams of Santa Ana, CA is making some sort of announcement today, and it's expected to be Notre Dame if he's committing.

We need some good news like really soon.

Recruiting is crazy and volatile. We have the studs to have a good season and when we do we will change some Minds. So looking forward to the season

At this point we are going to have a class ranked 6-8. ( I know recruiting rankings are eh after 3rd or 4th) .
We are going to have some nice skill position players.
I still have lots of faith in this staff's ability to recruit. We are still battling the " We're back" syndrome and it's being used effectively by other schools. We simply are going to have to show it on the field.
This staff has till the first signing period in November to change some minds.

One thing I remember is that some teams have won the natty despite finishing in the recruiting rankings in the previous 4 years averaging at about 18 give or take. I think Tennessee comes to mind. I know that's an aberration but it happened. I ,too, am confident we will be in the top 5 recruiting, consistently, year after years.

Major issue has been "developing" players consistently year after year. Yes we have an Ossai and. Poona Ford now and then but they have been the exception.
I think this staff has the ability to develop players. Unfortunately for us impatient folks, it will take time.

True. Tee Martin won a natty, Peyton Manning didn't.
It's about coaching, team chemistry and in some cases, downright luck.
