2022 Recruiting - Football

Argh- what is it with us an OL. Can we have some of these tight ends convert over to OL?

It is frustrating. The Cowboys turned things around when they finally stacked the OL with first round picks. A great offensive line, like sales, solves most problems. There is something going on that is preventing us from attracting the elite players. To me, Alabama's greatness has to do with the QB baking cakes in the backfield and the running backs able to drive trucks through the holes.

I agree with you 100%. That said, we have a pretty solid line in my opinion, just didn't have the right development. Hand dropped the ball here. The new coaching staff comes in with quite the pedigree for developing players, specifically our OL coach. If we can put a competitive team and overachieve, or at the least show promise early in the year, we may have a more attractive product to sell recruits. Obviously winning cures all. We are still in the mix for some serious talent, and if we look dominating early, may flip some of these early commits. Time will tell.

The Longhorns really could use a couple of major commits on the OL to get the momentum rolling. I assume Sark and the staff are well aware of this need.

I've posted this here before and I'll do it again. I believe Mack's biggest downfall was unbalanced recruiting classes beginning in about 2009. 5* RB's and QB's can't have success without someone blocking for them. Games are won/lost in the trenches.

It was obvious recruits had lost faith in TH's ability to develop talent and the recruiting results were starting to reflect that. My biggest hope for this new staff is that they can reverse that trend immediately. Losing one 3* is irrelevant, but they better start landing some OL talent pretty soon or it's going to be a real struggle to turn this tanker around. C'mon Sark/Flood, let's get the ball rolling.

This might be a rose colored glasses perspective, but if this staff can do what I think they just might do with the current roster — like sweep September and beat OU Sucks — that momentum plus the coaching talent plus the attraction of Austin might change some minds. It wouldn’t surprise me. Not in the least.

Patience grasshopper

Just sayin
I was not impressed with M Murphy's videos. I'm just not a believer, overhyped. I think we missed out on some good QBs because he committed early, and texans, OUCH. Just don't think he has the "it" or the mobility. Thank goodness we have Card for next year and beyond and hopefully we get Manning, who I think we lead. But we could get blindsided like with some other recruits.
Usually I am positive but i guess not this occasion.

Tend to agree. I have seen the Swoopes analogy before and that concerns me. But if Sark is on board, so am I…

Someone calls them "elite", using that term loosely. I call them "potentially good players".

But I am thankful to have them.

Banks and Campbell, there I might dare to use the term "elite". But what do I know.

Think I might walk out into the woods and shed a few tears if we don't get Banks and Campbell.

Personally, I think all the other teams have too many "elite, 5 star lineman".

Okay - I asked for a couple of OL commits to get the ball rolling, and it looks like it's starting. Good work by the staff - but we still need to see some more OL commits (and preferably "elite" players). But it's definitely a good start.
