2022 Recruiting - Football

Big news about Bama and Georgia paying recruits:

Lawsuits, secret taping and the unraveling of a powerhouse high school football program

Has to be good for us. Can’t see how sanctions won’t happen down the road.

From the article:

"Nelson graduated from Valdosta High School in 1973, and like the rest of the town, he loves its high school football teams. Since his senior year, Nelson estimates he has missed only five Wildcats football games in 47 seasons, including one for a wedding and another after his father died.

"I don't miss a game for funerals, normally," said Nelson, a retired commercial painter. "But since that was my dad, I figured I better go. Most of the time, I figure they can wait. They're dead, after all."

This is pretty unbelievable to me. Just pathological.

Not sure why you consider it pathological, I call it a lack of priorities, or misguided priorities.

IT thinks Texas has a big lead for Kelvin Banks. Perroni keeps saying "I have my pick on aggy for a reason" although he later says he's not a lock by any means. Curious to see where both sides are getting info to feel confident.

I appreciate the post, but this list leaves me feeling depressed. Only 2 OL! I hope we strike gold, but seems really high risk to have so few Olinemen coming in.

You wanna hear pathological? A friend from Alabama (she is not a football fan, btw) told me a case she knew of first hand. An Auburn fan wouldn't go to his daughter's wedding because she was marrying a Bama grad. She told me that the Auburn/Bama rivalry rises to the level of pure hatred.

Yes, that's really bad. Unbelievable actually.

OL recruiting ... 3* out of Florida

MARCH 28 8:03 PM UPDATE: The Longhorns have landed in the top-6 for one of the top offensive line recruits in the 2022 class, in IMG Academy offensive tackle Aliou Bah. Bah announced the Longhorns amongst his finalists on Sunday night via social media.

4* DE from Florida

The Longhorns found themselves in the mix for yet another big-time defensive lineman product on Friday, when Lakeland Florida High School defensive end Keahnist Thompson listed the program among his final eight schools.

OrangeBloods reporting WR CJ Williams of Santa Ana, CA will be in Austin on June 18th for the big official visit weekend.

All we need is 5 of them, might as well take the top 5. :headbang:
We heard very early with Strong and TH that they Texas high school coaches were very unhappy that they immediately looked to out of state recruits. Will we hear the same with Sark or have they adjusted to the new reality? Anyway it alway baffled me that they think we should not recruit out of state but they seem to invite or at least celebrate out of state colleges.

Well, Texas HS coaches (especially in North and East Texas), give equal time to the Texas recruiters and you might learn that the flagship university in Texas fields a football team.

Sark has recruited Texas for SC and Alabama so he knows the territory, and more importantly, most HS coaches at the schools Texas recruits know Sark. They also should realize that Texas is going after the best so if the best choose an $EC school or ou, Texas is going to find what they want outside of Texas.

This June 18th weekend is going to be electric if Sark has anything to do with it....and I believe he does. Wouldn't surprise me if two or 3 big names commit. Or it leads to decisions made and they commit on the first signing day.
Hopefully, and most surely, Sark will show an aggressive and dynamic offense this coming season highlighted by good QB play that will inspire recruits to commit even defensive recruits. Its a pivotal season and recruiting class. Hookem :hookem2:
