2022 Recruiting - Football

Jaydon Blue (Klein Cain) told IT that he speaks with OL Kam Dewberry (Humble Atascocita) and OL Kelvin Banks (Humble Summer Creek) a lot about potentially committing to UT.

He mentioned they all go back to little league playing on the same team or against each other.

Getting blue, Kam, and Banks would be like scoring a hat trick, touchdown, and home run all rolled into one. We certainly need those horses up front.
Throw in Murphy Stewart and Coleman we're looking at a strong base for a very good class.

UCLA seems to have thrown in the towel

UCLA: TB Jaydn Ott(Las Vegas/Bishop Gorman). The Bruins are an interesting case in that five-star quarterback Maalik Murphy is atop their wish list. (His mom works on campus.) But we opted for Ott as the best combination of desirable and signable. The four-star prospect will have plenty of offers, whereas Murphy could commit to Texas any day.

Dominique should do that to me the next time she catches me peeping.
If we can’t recruit her, perhaps coach Kwit can hire her. She has the “low base, legs spread” stance down pat, like one of DKR’s tackling videos. In fact, she has the “come under control before you make the hit” fundamentals down better than most of our players.

She wasn't going for an espn highlight kill shot. She wrapped up. Very impressive.

Here is some of what Super K wrote after going to see Bryce Anderson --

I believe Texas is in a good spot and believe that even more so after seeing him yesterday. He has said there is no decision timeline and so he could obviously wait things out. But, if I were guessing, I’d guess something happens sooner rather than later.

The ties he has to Texas, including his ties to Blue are helping Texas. The staff is doing a killer job here. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, after finally getting back out on the road since this Covid things started, my initial impressions of how the new staff is recruiting are very good. There is a team work in the recruitment and that, my friends, makes the dream work.

I asked Bryce who he wants to go after for whatever school he commits to and he said Bryan Allen, Harold Perkins and Denver Harris.

Something along the same lines from Nick Harris

As the Texas staff has gotten to work in recruiting in 2022 and 2023, prospects and coaches are starting to formulate their opinions of the new direction of the Texas program under Steve Sarkisian. A name I've heard a good amount about is safeties coach Blake Gideon. As I reported earlier this week, Gideon is hot in pursuit of the state's top two safeties Bryan Allen Jr. and Bryce Anderson. There's an energetic aura about Gideon that is impressing these guys as he's worked close with newly-hired cornerbacks coach and pass game coordinator Terry Joseph. These two have started their working relationship off on the right path and have conjoined to recruit some of the biggest secondary names in the state for the 2022 class.

A rumor from a longtime poster on another site with a good rep re: Ewers. But you can never really know if things like this are real.

- he is not in love with OSU
- just wants to play football and win championships
- flip won't happen soon, if it happens look for around ou game. Wants to see how the offense does to start the season
-loved that Blue is trying to recruit OL
- talks to Milwee the most, likes him a lot
- a QB committing anywhere will not scare him

But neither Hamilton nor Wells shot it down

IT update on Maalik Murphy -- they think USC and Oregon are out of the picture

" ... is set to begin its campaign on March 12th, according to reports. There’s a tentative five-game schedule, and after a 6-5 season in 2019....

..... With USC already having a 2022 QB in the fold and having 2023 Malachi Nelson on the board as the top QB in the state and region, regardless of classification, the Trojans are content to work on Nelson and Nelson only. In the case of Oregon, fellow 2022 signal caller out of California (now at IMG Academy) A.J. Duffy is at the top of the board, and the most coveted for the Ducks staff.

That removes the Longhorns’ two major competitors from the picture, and provides a fortuitous path to victory for Sarkisian and staff to land the large pocket passing template."

IT on Banks --

OL Kelvin Banks, Summer Creek (2022): At 6-foot-5, 300 pounds, one of UT’s top targets is staying in shape, and eager to compete at the Under Armour camp in Dallas on March 14th, he tells IT. On the recruiting front, Texas quietly been surging in the last week or so to the point of being considered the favorite by those at Summer Creek. LSU and Texas A&M are right there in the race, but the work of Kyle Flood here has been key. A person close to Banks has always maintained that the OL coach relationship would play a major role in where Banks would attend college. Texas was the favorite of Banks starting the recruiting process, and now Banks could be once again looking toward Austin as a future home.

Two notes from IT...

- Texas has surged the past week for OL Kelvin Banks of Humble Summer Creek, so much so that people around his high school believe the Longhorns now lead. Coach Flood has done a great job playing catch-up and it doesn't hurt that Texas was Banks' favorite in the early stages of his recruitment.

- they are saying that Texas now has a "nice lead" with S Bryce Anderson of Beaumont West Brook, mainly due to Coach Joseph. The rest of the staff has followed recruiting him hard and they think he could make a decision within a month.

Something is shaking. All the coaches are tweeting as well as some of the recruits.

Can’t say what it is but sounds like there is a really good chance you all could be receiving some excellent news this weekend.

This is not in reference to the Trevell Johnson news. This is a separate piece of good news likely headed your way.

If anything changes, I’ll let you know. Stay tuned.
