2022 Recruiting - Football

My only question is, what would getting Murphy do to the Ewers effort? And I’m not suggesting that one is better than the other...
Why not get both? Lol.
Stranger things have happened but I would doubt seriously we could nab two 5* qb's.
Both would resonate with other recruits so it's a win win either way.

Probably just like you would think
It does make you wonder if someone leaked something through Loy (like Joseph for example). His CB to Texas was, no doubt, noticed by Ewers. This staff, unlike the Herman/Strong staffs, is pretty good at this stuff.
It will be interesting to watch how we do handle this for the next week.
Maybe we flip Ewers by this weekend? Some people think it's possible
If not, go ahead and move on Murphy
If he does commit, it sounds like high 4-star WR CJ Williams from Mater Dei will come with him.

247 national guy (West Coast i think) Greg Biggins compares Murphy to Jameis Winston --

"Possesses a ton of raw upside and as high a ceiling as any quarterback in the region, regardless of class. Has lacked ideal production through first two years but has every tool you could want in an elite quarterback and has shined in multiple off season events. He has plus size and arm strength, is accurate to all three levels of the field, is a smart kid who understands timing and anticipation and when to take a little off his throws. Can already throw the football 70+ down the field but is more then just a big arm, he knows how to play the position. He’s mobile and is comfortable throwing outside the pocket, is a highly competitive kid, a natural leader with a great off the field work ethic. Projects as an impact upper tier Power 5 starter and future high round NFL draft pick."

This one is going to be fun to watch. Murphy really likes Tx. He didn't get his feelings hurt when Ewers committed to us and Tx went silent with him.
After we lost Ewers and Herman re established communication Murph was very receptive.
So lots of props to Murphy .

Patient with his hand and played his cards right. Well done, young man.

It is the perfect time to exploit USC woes and steal the best West Coast players

Although I admit I have been writing this exact same sentence for several consecutive years now

It's smart too. I dont know how any 5-star QB-WRs looked at the last NC game and didnt think Sark would be a great OC/HC to play for. You would think they would be climbing over each other to get to Austin

Got a pop-up this morning 2022 - 5 Star, pro style QB Maalik Murphy from CA expected to visit UT next week. Sark magic continues....

Apologize if someone previously posted this.

One thing is certain the opposition is not going to let us dominate without a fight. It's that nasty negative recruiting that they have always been efficient at against us. :hookem2:

The negative recruiters are off balance with the change in HC. Need to take advantage of it while we can.

Lots of social media chatter by recruits ( all positive).
Hints of a Murphy commitment after his visit or soon thereafter.
And there is no question that Williams would follow.

Terry Joseph is also now on the job. Has been in contact with Garland safety Chace Biddle
"We've been told that Joseph has a relentless work ethic on the trail, and this is the second straight day someone reached out to express positive feedback on the new Texas assistant."

Looks like another Dallas area player to ou
One of the top safeties Chace Biddle

Apparently schools are using his past alcoholism in the negative pitches to recruits
I have sold $200m in technology licenses in my career. There are certain cons that can stick (which you need to address) and then there is BS that any experienced negotiator knows how to handle. Sending a YouTube link of his last game at Bama would suffice for now. Real criticism will apply when Sark puts something on the field or graduate players to the NFL. That record won’t be known until the next 1-2 years. Sark needs to avoid wetting the bed like FU Herman who lost opening games to Maryland his first 2 years.

The drain of talent from the DFW area to ou continues even after Sark and Co. were on the job. Sark needs to find an answer post haste.
We've only had hype the last 7 years. Sooners have had success.
For a change it really feels like we have the right staff in place this time.
As mentioned above , sooners have always done well at Garland High and DFW for that matter.
Getting Gilbert as our high school liaison is huge.

For all the hype surrounding blOwU, they have won the same amount of national titles as we have in the last 20 years, oh wait no we have won one more than they have.

Of course we are no where close to them in conference championships and we could win the next 7 and still be behind them. how sad is that.

The point is that Texas has been down the last 11 years and they haven't been able to take advantage of it, this is the opening we have to take back DFW. The same can be said of aggy.
