2022 Recruiting - Football

The question would be would Westlake have won just as convincingly with Ewers at QB? After watching Ewers for two weeks in a row I am less than impressed - a lot of talent, but the top talent? Also as someone above mentioned his motion needs work.

Sark is one of, if not the, best QB evaluator and developer of QB talent in the country. I believe Sark is one of the best QB talent evaluators/developers in the country so If he thinks he can elevate Ewers he will push hard for him.

However there is one additional issue for Sark to think about. Texas hosts aOSU on 12 September 2026. That would be Ewers' natural (non-RS) senior season. If Sark is worried about facing a 4th year Ewers, he might push now just to eliminate that competition. On the other hand, if he feels by 20206 he will have someone better he might just let it go.

im sure his focus is who HIS QB is going to be in the near future, not the one he might face in 5 years.

better question since Klubnik is supposedly as good, how the heck has he not been scooped up yet?

Head Coaching 101 - Never ever let an opportunity to disrupt an opponent go by. The HC is the strategist because he is the responsible party. If he can throw a wrench into aOSU's future QB rotations now (at little to no cost), that might be the difference in 4 years.

UT gave him an offer back in November after the Ewers de commitment.

Also this .

Austin Westlake QB Cade Klubnik told IT that Sark called him on Sunday night for a brief convo.
He also mentioned that he really liked what he saw from Bama's offense last night, and he's eager to meet Sark in-person once the NCAA starts allowing that again.

Like some of the other posters, I really like Klubnik. If we get Klubnik or Ewers, to go along with Card, we would be set for the next five years in the QB position. Thompson, who I think already has his degree, if he has a strong season will be headed to the NFL. Man I can't wait to see Thompson play this coming season, if God is willing. I really believe he is going to take us to the CCG, but in a perfect world for me Card would get MEANINGFUL snaps each game. :hookem:

We offered RB Zach Evans
No, not that Zach Evans!
This one is a 5'9, 185 2022 and from Rockwall. #63 RB, #85 in TX per 247Comp. As a junior, he had 199 carries for 1,220 yards/14 tds/8 rec.
11 offers so far, including ASU, Utah, Kansas w/ CBs currently to Utah but lots of other teams kicking the tires
They say we see him a good compliment to pair in the backfield with 2022 Jaydon Blue (who is 5'11,205). Evans is an APB who can also line up in the slot.

Not that I have seen a lot of HS play. but Klubnick is a better athlete than Ewers and has a much higher upside. Ewers seems too much like a pretty boy and I know he can throw the ball incredibly well, but what else? Adequate runner, but I do not see a lot of leadership ability. Ewers seems all about Ewers.

I would focus on Klubnik and maybe Malik out of CA. Use Ewers like he used UT.

We offered 4-star QB Conner Weigman (Cypress Bridgeland) back in Nov (along with Westlak's Cade Klubnik) once Ewers left us. Looks like he can see the whole field, can read coverages and anticipates well. Offers from Auburn, Florida, ou and OkieSt ...

Watching Klubnik in the state title game, he was very impressive in managing the game. He seemed to be the better of the 2 QB's on the field that night. We couldnt go wrong with either of them but if I had my pick it would be Klubnik based on a narrow window.

I was very impressed with Cade’s speed. He is a track guy as well as a top QB.
Couldn’t really make a comparison of their passing skills due to the difference in the two teams’ line play on both sides of the ball.

SLC had inferior play on both sides—due to youth and inexperience I think.
Next year’s game (and season for that matter) will be telling re: passing skills. I’m thinking Ewers has a slight edge there.
But I would take either one in a heartbeat. :hookem:

They just now offered. TH offered back in October. Know that Sark has been on this.

Seems to be a form Tweet. Almost verbatim the same as the one for UT.

Hmm...

247 hearing the new coaches are already communicating with high schools in-state hoping to catch up on 2022s and 2023s.

One example is Coach Joseph reaching out to Dallas South Oak Cliff where he specifically asked about CB Kyron Chambers.

Might give some insight to this tweet.
