2021 Season

Being that this season "doesn't count" against a player's eligibility, and considering the cancellations and postponements, I'm starting to look at this season as a sort of a practice season. The way I see it we're getting an extra year with the players to infuse the new staff's style and culture into the program. Disappointment aside, I figure any games we get in this season are a plus.

With the only major possible negative is losing Charlie after this practice season.

I agree. I hope Charli sticks around another year, she's such a special talent. That said, I want her to be the best she can be at any level and I'll definitely be pulling for her success whatever she decides to do.

I do think Collier will stay another year. Given this Covid mess it's probably not the way she wants to leave. Given she is a top 5 pick easily, she will also be a top 5 pick next year as well. I do think we have a championship level team next season and Collier knows that.

Let's hope! :beertoast:

But isn’t it nice to know women have the opportunity to leave early and make a career now too? I mean not really. I hate the revolving door in the men’s game and wish every student athlete would stay 4 years and get a degree, but if the opportunity is there for financial success as a professional athlete, it’s nice to know a female athlete can take advantage of it too.

Yes, it's always nice to see some type of progression.

I agree, it’s nice to know....but I just do not think Charli will leave....I know I said “guaranteed”, but I’ll change that to “HIGHLY unlikely”....

I know the Tennessee game was cancelled due to COVID but what happened to scheduling some of the top teams like Stanford, UCONN or Arizona? Were these matchups cancelled by Vic?
When looking at our schedule it seems very soft.

Yes they all were. Both coaches for all these teams involved decided it would be best to schedule these games for next season which I completely agree with. The time & dates did not match up for many games as nobody really knew what the outcome of the season would be. Traveling was a big issue within teams so the teams we play out of conference are just teams that were available at the dates we were looking to play. When you look at many of these top teams schedule, Texas schedule does not look so weak.

On ESPNW brackets by Charlie Creme updated 12-23, Texas is a five seed in the 64 and 48 team brackets. Both scenarios have the Horns in the same bracket with Stanford. If the tournament is only a 16 team one, Texas is one of the "first four out" along with Arkansas, Ohio State, and Indiana. Probably about right on all three, although I am hopeful that as the season goes along, they will be considered one of the "last four in" on a 16 team bracket......or better.

If there IS a tournament this season, and if it DOES have a reduced number of teams, I wouldn't imagine it would be anything less than 32 teams. 16 is not enough, and 48 makes no sense to me because it would still require the same number of rounds. I wondered about that when I saw it on espn.com
