2021 Season

Here’s the deal. I’m here to talk basketball. Not see you call people a$$holes for their opinions. So, yes I’m gonna be rude to you when you’re rude. If my spelling is off, please forgive me. We’re not all as perfect as you obviously. Now, as I said in my previous post, it’s back to basketball. Have a great day.
I replied to someone who used that term and “sounds like” is not the same thing...and, yes, same to you, have a great day, and back to basketball...we can agree on that...

Coach Vic's post game presser from the last game. He addresses the different challenges of the 2021 season, particularly how the pandemic and injuries affect game preparation. I watched Baylor @ TCU today and both HC's were missing from the sidelines due to contact tracing.

I recommend watching these interviews Charli Collier has started. In this particular interview she gets Kevin Durant to sit down & talk with her. She has a bright future in sports broadcasting:hookem:

Good for Charli.

KD is the best sports ambassador Texas has ever had. I remeber he would come to almost every women's game after the men's team was done with practice. Only pkayer I ever saw do that consistently. He would usually be sitting alone too crazy to see knowing he was about to be one of the most famous sports figures on earth with in a couple years. He just loves the game of basketball and glad he makes time for our current students.

Regarding Lauren Ebo, I viewed her twitter page and she did retweet some UT/ISU video highlights on January 4; so, that's good news. She tweeted a lot yesterday based on what's going on in D.C. Can't tell if she's back home or in Austin:

I was wondering if there was a family/COVID issue after the holiday - she does have a brother living in Austin.

Vic said in his press conference that Ebo is already back with the team but she won't play this weekend. She will play next week but he did not disclose the reasoning behind her break which I understand.

I look at this season like this... the transfers got blanket waivers, and the NCAA is mostly likely going to pass the one-year transfer rule in the not so distant future. Add in the fact that this season doesn't count against players' four-year eligibility, and we couldn't have hoped for a more perfect time to be rebuilding under a new staff. I'm excited about the possibilities that all those factors present.

In the meantime I focus on the little things where I notice improvement like some individual players' development from last year, the freshmen, and just some different energy within the program altogether.

Iowa State beats Baylor in Waco snapping their 61 game home winning streak. Baylor depleted and DiDi Richards was having problems with her legs and it wasn’t cramps

Iowa state takes down Baylor at Baylor and Kim Mulvey doesn't even acknowledge Iowa state and their staff. She just walks off the court with no wave or good game. I have said it many times Baylor is not the dominant team in the big 12 like they used to be and it was shown tonight. Will be a good race between multiple teams

I'm wondering if that spill she took earlier in the game created some sort of reaction from her previous injury. I sure hope she's okay. Good game played by Iowa State.

Every Big 12 team now has at least one loss. We have a race! Exciting.

Apparently Mulkey didn’t take the loss well (imagine that) and had a few words for the NCAA
Halftime Show of A&M WBB game is covering in a few minutes

If ESPN is reporting accurately:

She gave the Cyclones full credit for ending the Lady Bears' streak, saying Baylor could probably beat some opponents with that little preparation, but not Iowa State.

"That team has 3-pointers that expose us -- that team has great coaching," she said. "It was the perfect timing for what you saw happen to happen."

A little humbleness isn’t being weak. It’s way overdue and time for other teams to shine in the spotlight and be number one in the conference! Hope that will be Texas soon!

Sure she gave them some credit but I also read one of her remarks that she said “I can make a million excuses sitting here. I’ve seen my team two times since Dec. 20 and we haven’t practiced all week...

It’s true they had no full team practices for 11 days (I think) with their first the morning of the game. Frankly I don’t see a lot of teams being able to beat ISU under those circumstances with two key players out as well, not to mention DiDi’s issues. Mulkey herself was a GameDay decision.

I suspect they’ll be back with a vengeance

Oklahoma State won this afternoon (Monday) at Kansas State. Game was tied at the end of the 3rd quarter, but OSU used a 25-11 fourth quarter to get the win. Quick turnaround for them as they host us on Wednesday night.

Got the email today that they are letting fans back in for the men's game on Tuesday vs Baylor. I would guess we'll be able to see West Virginia and Okie State games in person.
