2021 Recruiting - Football

aggy on Johnson
Sounds like we will know Weds

TFB said Austin Uke was down to us, Stanford, Northwestern and ou. They thought Stanford had the slight lead over us. But now apparently Bryan Carrington is trying to pull him to USC. Seems pretty sneaky.

Uke is perhaps the most athletic 2021 offensive lineman in Texas. If not, he’s certainly one of them.

The 5 in-state players we hope for on Weds Signing Day

DL David Abiara - Mansfield Legacy
CB Ishmael Ibraheem - Dallas Kimball
WR Keithron Lee - Bryan Rudder
RB LJ Johnson - Cy Fair
OL Austin Uke - Dallas Parish Episcopal

The top 3 seem likely
While the bottom two seem unlikely (as of this moment in time)

A note about Abiara
Interestingly, if Texas had not re-entered the picture for Abiara, he likely would have ended up at Washington, where Kwiatkowski would have been happy to have him. But now it’s more likely the two unite in Austin instead of Seattle.

On OL Austin Uke from Dallas Parish Episcopal...IT saying his mother wants Stanford right now.
We never win out against Stanford.

He should remember who gave him the unprecedented opportunity he was given.

IT saying that Danny Young is back with the team
I like him a lot, especially on short yardage. Wonder what would have happened on some goal line tries with a two back set to include him and with Sam under center? Did we ever run one of those?

Starting to see BC for what he is.

That is why UT should get PAID if coaches find another job that pays more than the job they had before working for Texas. I say 50% of the uplift for 1 year of annual salary. Note the coach doesn’t have to pay if he accepts an equal paying job.

Not at all. We're trying to steal Wheaton who Sark recruited to bama. It's recruiting. Not always the most ethical game .
I get it...and I was hesitant to post because I knew this^^^ would be raised.
But I did anyway, as I wouldn't do it myself and view it as unethical.
Guess I couldn't be a recruiting ace if that's what it takes.
And with BC...it isn't just this one thing. It appears to be a growing list. Having said all this, I do understand your sentiment and realize the accuracy of your assertion. I just don't like it. I'll try to rein in my conclusions about BC a bit...and edit my post lest I be too harsh.

Personally I felt he was a gimmicky hire. A crutch for Herman. But Herman needed him.It was working for the most part as far as getting recruits. Unfortunately it wasn't translating to on the field performance and his schtick got old and everything went cockeyed. I think this staff will do fine once they begin digging inroads.
Having said that it does look like Sark will try to keep him but again we will be fine without him.
Herman left a bucket of "sheet" in regards to the UT brand in recruits homes.
We will close out 2021 decently under the circumstances and mine the portal and any JC guys still availabe.
2022 is the year to look forward to.

Good post. Totally agree on the Herman/necessity/gimmicky angle...though many of us were gushing at the time.
I based part of my own sentiment on the fact that he is still technically with us. He is, right?
...that combined with rumors he was undercutting us w recruits during TheEyes stuff.
But...if you officially move on to another program... sure at that point all...almost all...bets are off. Until then...your loyalty is to your employer...again especially one who gave you the unprecedented opportunity.

I have to say that as always so much depends on our season. As anytime winning will rule the day, the difference is how much more will be the impact from winning with the néw coaching staff. That kind of confirmation will push us way past the mark.

Totally agree. We need to win and some of those have to be by huge margins.
Herman left Sark that bucket of poop. Between that and the negative recruiting Sark doesn't get the benefit of the new coach smell for long.

All is fair in war, love, and college recruiting...
Have to love recruiting. As JF mentioned earlier look @ Bear Alexander. We wake up today to find that Georgia is the favorite and even has a couple of cb's to Ga.
No where in his time line, tweets or recruiting sites has there ever been a mention of Ga. Yet here we are with them apparently in the drivers seat.
Recruiting. Fun indeed.

I believe Dykes always had OSU high on his list for obvious reasons.

He had never mentioned oSu until that afternoon at Bay City HS. I told him that he couldn't find it on a map, and I wasn't sure he even knew it was in Stillwater. I am reasonably sure he never had a visit to Stillwater.

He drove a tricked out MB AMG in Stillwater. Then he signed a bonus with the Patriots and a second bonus with the White Sox before coming to the bank to borrow the money to buy a Jeep Cherokee. I just looked at him and said, "Damn, Hart Lee, pay cuts are hell".
