2021 Recruiting - Football

Too bad they didn’t have drones back then. They could of dropped off his cash and a road map. But then again, could he have read the map?

Ibraheem also plans to sign this week. But we still have to decide whether to accept it, which is up to Del Conte & Hartzell

The admin is supposed to be on board (as expected) with Ibraheem so he will sign with us on Weds. He will be our 3rd highest rated 2021 commit (per the 247Comp) and the only man cover for us in this class (Jamier Johnson looks more like a safety)

TFB said Austin Uke was down to us, Stanford, Northwestern and ou. They thought Stanford had the slight lead over us. But now apparently Bryan Carrington is trying to pull him to USC. Seems pretty sneaky.
Uke is perhaps the most athletic 2021 offensive lineman in Texas. If not, he’s certainly one of them.

Stop me if you have heard this recruiting story before -- but Austin Uke's mom prefers Stanford. Maybe she should have named him Palo Alto Uke instead

It is interesting that Uke has basically no CBs on 247 or futurecasts on Rivals. Just a couple of old SMU picks at the lowest confidence level of 1. So the paysite guys have no idea where he is going. He may have the makings of a future gambling professional

Some Uke quotes --

“I’ve been talking to Coach Flood and Coach Sark basically every day. You know, I think our relationship is pretty good. Just spending time to get to know them and know what they do with their players – I really do trust them when it comes to being able to develop me and making a safe environment where I don’t have to worry about things. I really do trust them.”

“They have a really good engineering mentorship program, so that’s a big one right there. High-level football. With the (incoming) Alabama coaches and maybe a future Heisman Trophy back there at running back, that’s something hard to pass up… Growing up in Texas, and when you see the Longhorns you’re like ‘man, one day I just want to hopefully get a chance to play for them’ so having the opportunity to play for them is a dream come true.”
On Austin: “In the future it’s really going to be like a new LA or second LA.” (lets hope not)
Uke said he is close with Denzel Okafor.
And his mom likes both Stanford and USC

Joe,

Any word on LJ. I hate to follow one recruit so closely but I think he may be a signal to other recruits. If he picks Texas I really think it would encourage others, like Uke, to follow the hype train to Austin.

Daniel Young is pretty supportive of Herman here, which I found a little surprising
I think it shows class and intelligence for a player who played for TH not to badmouth TH after Herman was canned. A player has Nothing to gain by stepping on TH after he's been fired.

He did seem to be choosing his words carefully

Signing day is tomorrow so its probably too late for one guy committing to affect another guy
Over the last 2 weeks, it felt like we had the momentum with LJJ. But then suddenly Suchomel with OB, who had been one of the ones who said he committing to us wrote, "he's not coming to Texas." And he did not really give the details
The good news is that we should know some time on Weds

TFB said yesterday that Chris Gilbert HC of Lancaster is expected to be the new director of HS relations, would be ginormous for Dallas crootin' imo. He is the sitting president of the THSCA.

Now JF, you do realize that if “you” are not able to land a big fish like LJ or Uke, we may have to downgrade you to a 4 Star “recruiting informational clearing house...”

On Lee --

A dynamic and explosive wideout, Lee was used in a variety of ways during his tenure at Rudder, racking up yards and touches both in the passing game and the running game. In his junior season in 2019, Lee burst onto the scene with his electric playmaking ability, catching 39 passes for 711 yards and 11 touchdowns through the air, and rushing 48 times for 502 yards and an additional seven touchdowns.

During his senior season in 2020, Lee was nearly unstoppable, catching 65 passes for 1,139 yards and 16 scores, while also carrying the ball 65 times for 554 yards and nine more touchdowns for the Rangers. Lee finished his career with 3,479 total yards of offense and 49 total touchdowns in his three seasons with the varsity unity, cementing himself as one of the most explosive players in the state of Texas' 5A classification.

Rudder finished this past season 6-4, narrowly missing the playoffs after finishing fifth in district 5A-2 Region III District 10, with Lee leading the district in both receiving and touchdowns for the season.

Projecting as a wideout at the college level

This should make everyone not named Bama feel better.
An embarrassment of riches...
National Signing Day 2021: Alabama set to ink the top-rated college football recruiting class of all time
Yes and some of those will be transferring due to lack of playing time sitting behind others for too long. Right now they love the intention and notoriety of signing with the Alabama but being on the bench for at least 2 years they will come to their senses. Come on over boys.
