2021 Recruiting - Football

You are right, Viper. My primary 2021 concern is oline...and it would be nice to have another strong QB for the cycle. I agree w you on Sark and 2022...I just threw it in there due to my Ewers butthurtedness
It just seems to me that Ewers will consider coming back to Texas knowing that Sark is excellent in dealing with QBs and has an excellent offensive scheme. Sark's reputation is a tremendous asset. And with Sark coming is good enough reason to come back. Plus Texas is Ewers first love. It just wouldn't surprise me if he came back.
However, I am happy with the QBs we have though they are short on experience.
I wonder if our offense can get to the point where the QB doesn't have to be a Superman do -it- all so that the offense is successful, much like Alabama's. However, I do appreciate Thompson's ability to run which will cause fits for the defense.
This is probably why we lost 3-6 games a season cause we we're too dependent on Sam with his limits.

Hope you're right on Ewers. Odds would be higher if Buckeyes would have faired worse this year...but we'll see.

Sark has a good/great 2021 campaign and the buzz will be big. If it’s apparent by November that his 22 class is stellar, my money is on Ewers taking another look.

Looking back through some of the early posts, there were several factors regarding Ewers de committing . It still hasn't been determined if true or not but there were some rumors of herman bad mouthing ewers and it got back to the family.

The more likely reason I would think are the reasons he gave.

A chance to play for a championship, coaches that can develop him for the next level. He also mentioned his relationship with tosu qb coach. His de commitment occurred during our 2 game losing streak and it was thought that he wasn't impressed at our offense at the time.
A new coaching staff especially with a coach that has sent players to the league may give him new interest.

Also 5* Maalik Murphy of Gardena Ca. has renewed interest in Tx. He was high on UT through the summer and all went dark during the early part of the season.
And don't forget Arch Manning in 23'.

Maalik Murphy, Junipero Serra, Pro-Style Quarterback

On LJ Johnson:

IT says "trending towards the Longhorns ever since the hire of Steve Sarkisian and the news likely that Alabama offensive line coach Kyle Flood will be joining Sarkisian. Texas and the Cy Fair running back have spoken daily since the hiring of Sarkisian. .... In the days leading up to the dismissal of Tom Herman, Herman had tried to reach out to Johnson, but Johnson never called him back. (aggy) was trending at that point."

GHamilton disagrees, he thinks aggy. He thinks the coaching staff at CyFair is trying to direct him to Collieville

Mike Roach thinks retaining Drayton will make the difference.
He says -- "It's quite possible Steve Sarkisian could have a huge month of January."

IT on Keithron Lee

“It is one-hundred percent.”
Lee has .... has been studying the Alabama offense, and is excited the possibilities for him as a receiver. Lee has maintained contact with Andre Coleman.

Joey Galloway thinks Herman deserved more time. Maybe Charlie too

"The question is when you say recruiting, and it makes me wonder how attractive this Texas job is," Galloway said this week. "Since Mack Brown was there they've been in a struggle. Charlie Strong only got three seasons to get it done; then you got Tom Herman gets four seasons to get it done. When you're talking college football, and it takes time to recruit, within three years you have to hit home runs right now, young guys that can come in and play. They're not giving people a chance to develop players.

"It's like college football, not just a Texas, but everywhere is trending in that direction where you got three or four years to get it done. It takes longer than that when you're a program like Texas that has struggled for years. It takes longer to flip that roster."
Joey Galloway: Texas hasn't given coaches chance to develop

We are supposed to have a shot at flipping 4star WR Xavier Worthy from Michigan. They say he "flirted with the idea of flipping to Alabama before signing day." Sark was his recruiter
The #12 WR nationally per the 247 Comp, and a top 100 overall

Ishmael Ibraheem supposedly out there recruiting younger players to Texas.
I guess that means he thinks he will make it in

I tend to agree with the assessment that most coaches deserve more time. However I have a couple of caveats that Strong and Herman checked. If you are at a big time program and lose to an aweful team coupled with a bad record... see you (Strong). If you alienate +90% of the fan base by being a jerk... see you (Herman). So if Strong had not lost to Kansas, I thought he deserved another year, but he lost. So if Herman did not act like a jerk in many press conferences, mock players on other teams, insult the fan base, lose to Maryland in consecutive seasons, etc... Why would anyone argue Herman deserved another year?

Yep, Joey is missing the other screw-ups beyond won-loss records. It’s not the only problem. I think this is what people don’t understand about the Texas job

Joey doesn't have the analytical skills to see deeper into both situations to understand W-L record was not the core root cause of them being dismissed.

I dont think he has a firm grip of the modern CFB world
The majority of P5 programs are probably only giving guys 3-4 years

Mchammer, I apologize but we see too much of putting players down with possibility that players, coaches and even parents may see these as offensive and the kid moves to another team....

I really appreciate your excellent posts on Hornfans and look forward to your comments, 'keep it up!!'

I like to kid because I did a lot of stupid things at that age too, but I think you are right.

Is there sensodyne for emotions? I thought those were pretty funny jokes. If a joke or two on orangefans keeps recruits from coming here trust me the jokes aren't the problem.

Roach saying we may be in on a WR who had previously committed to Michigan, but has had troubles enrolling early. Says he may seek a release. He had almost committed to Bama and Sark was his recruiter. Says we may be in the running. Xavier Worthy, a 4-star.

Let's just all sit cross legged on the floor burn some incense and hum some s&&t. Maybe we can calm our sensitive and offended emotions! :whiteflag::facepalm:
