2021 Recruiting - Football

Roach saying we may be in on a WR who had previously committed to Michigan, but has had troubles enrolling early. Says he may seek a release. He had almost committed to Bama and Sark was his recruiter. Says we may be in the running. Xavier Worthy, a 4-star.

We are not worthy!!! Wayne and Garth

Joey Galloway thinks Herman deserved more time. Maybe Charlie too

"The question is when you say recruiting, and it makes me wonder how attractive this Texas job is," Galloway said this week. "Since Mack Brown was there they've been in a struggle. Charlie Strong only got three seasons to get it done; then you got Tom Herman gets four seasons to get it done. When you're talking college football, and it takes time to recruit, within three years you have to hit home runs right now, young guys that can come in and play. They're not giving people a chance to develop players.

"It's like college football, not just a Texas, but everywhere is trending in that direction where you got three or four years to get it done. It takes longer than that when you're a program like Texas that has struggled for years. It takes longer to flip that roster."
Joey Galloway: Texas hasn't given coaches chance to develop
Joey Galloway can kiss my arse. He apparently doesn't know **** about Longhorn football.

That's stupid. Stoops won a NC in year two, so did Meyer at Florida. I think he won at OSU in year 2 or 3. Saban had a NC in year 3.

Now Dabo at Clemson took quite a bit longer, but I'd say they were not even a blue blood team (last NC was 82 or so), before he got there, more like NC than FSU.

Usually, you either win CC and NC's in the first 3-4 years, or you never will.

Mack Brown sends his regards.

True, Brown took 7 years to win a NC, and had zero CC before that.

Supporters of Herman could point to Brown as needing more time to start winning. But for every late bloomer who wins NC's at year 7 or such, you would have more that never won it ever. And how long to you keep going with the same coach who hasn't won anything?

Brown was a special case of patience by the school. He unified and fired up the program, was very good from 99-2004 save for the yearly loss to OU, then elevated the program when Vince and Colt were here. Most coaches at blue blood schools would not survive his 98-2004 record of zero CC and record against the biggest rival.

Mack was 38-13 winning 75% of his games in his first 4 years losing a total of 6 conference games in the process. All of his first four years his teams ended the season ranked with year 3 finishing 12th and year 4 he ended the season 11-2 and ranked 5th. Supporters of Herman would have a hill to climb to compare Herman to Mack.

Herman was 32-18 winning 64% of his games losing 13 conference games and we know the mediocrity of the rest.

True. Mack Brown, Tom Herman is not.

Someone on our side from Cy Fair checked with the staff there about LJ Johnson. But they said he had already graduated and they are not hearing anything on the subject.
Whatever is going to happen with him, it will happen soon

@Joe Fan ... who are the early enrollees again?

Would be LJJohnson too, if it happens
Cant rmbr about Sorrell or Ibraheem

I feel good about the linebackers we got and I also feel good about Gunnar helm, I think he could be a star.

Orlando put us in a hole on lb recruiting, for a reason I never understood, especially given that it was his position. It never made any sense, other than De'Gabriel Floyd, who he seemed to think would fix everything (oops). Maybe he just didn't like recruiting?
But we are finally digging ourselves out

We are supposed to have a shot at flipping 4star WR Xavier Worthy from Michigan. They say he "flirted with the idea of flipping to Alabama before signing day." Sark was his recruiter
The #12 WR nationally per the 247 Comp, and a top 100 overall

Coleman's googly eyes were supposed to be about Worthy^^^ who is trying to get out of his LOI with Big Blue. He has been compared to Desean Jackson (the player, not the academician)

Can’t he just portal like everyone else?

I had that question too but it appears Meat Chicken is fighting him on it
We will see

Edit - Ive since read that the immediate eligibility transfer rule may not be available to the 2021 class. Although not 100% clear on this
