2020 Recruiting - Football

Earlier this summer four-star Tulsa WR JJ Hester told me he was looking at fall official visits, but was not ruling out a summer commitment. New information I am hearing says that decision will likely be sooner than later, that a decision is in and we could be hearing the verdict at any time. My Forecast has been in for Texas for several weeks.
But see.....

Hester is supposed to be in this weekend

Another 2021 is in da house
Extremely well done video here -- one of the best evah IMO -- you will want to watch whole thing to the very end - it totally kicks arse. He compares himself to a maniac willing to go through all of the avengers in order to dominate the universe. Heh.
And check out #9 in the kids video at end - can you tell who that is?

Coach Hand is killing it in state
247's Mike Roach mentioned in a chat the other day that among the possible "next 5 to commit" is 2021 OL Savion Byrd who Rivals currently has ranked as the #1 2021 OT nationally (247 has him as #3 OT nationally)

Heidi Foster is the mother of 2021 OG Bryce Foster, seen here \/ (big aggy family)

Two of the kids are going to Texas. So much for an all-Aggy affair.

It has been a while since this is what I found when looking at top national recruits. It's been a while since a Class of Beef was Wagyu.

Man we goin to have monster o-lines in at least for the next five years, maybe to infinity and beyond if we keep the services of coach Hand. Those 5 star running backs could make a name for themselves. Wake up ya'll.:fire:

Seems like forever since we had quality depth on the OL
Any depth really

Fillinger is going to be a favorite of Yancy. Kid already has great upper body strength.

As I have said in the past. Bench press is a useless lift for football strength. However, it does show that he is a workout warrior. Just wait until he is a at Texas and is getting his legs at the same level as his upper body. I'll bet he improves all his major stats considerably. speed, shuttle, verticle. Once Giles gets ahold of him he is going to learn how to play the DE position on a whole other level. (Utah kids don't get the level of coaching like kids in most Texas schools get). I'm looking forward to seeing how he turns out.

Courtland Ford made a visit to Texas over the weekend. The Longhorns checked in on him during the spring, and they’ve had some contact.Ford is close with Texas commit Ja'Quinden Jackson, and the former LSU commit is evaluating his options.Ford had two knee injuries during his high school career, but he’s done a great job re-shaping his body and getting down to a more controllable weight. Ford could be a guy that Texas offers after seeing a little more of him
The Stampede: Intel from a loaded Texas recruiting weekend

OrangeBloods sort of echoing this idea too. They think that there are four more targets who could commit at any time. Maybe even more.
OB also thinks we will land 2020 OL Andrej Karic (Southlake Carroll)- this is the kid originally from the Balkans
And they like 2021 DE Jordon Thomas (Port Arthur Memorial) to Texas as well. Comes from a family of Longhorn fans, and he doesnt really care for the recruiting game so wants it to end.

some more updates --

TexAgs says Alfred Collins probably will not make it to aggy this weekend, as planned. They concede he is a Texas lean. And TFB thinks he will be in Austin instead this weekend, although they say he will not announce until Dec.

Less than 24 hours after getting his offer, S Jerrin Thompson already has a CB to Texas

TFB on Van Fillinger --
Open Post | Tuesday, July 23rd - The Football Brainiacs - UT Edition

What is Texas getting in Fillinger?
Ranking: 4-Star, #36 DE Nationally, (ESPN) 3-Star, #18 DE Nationally, (247), 3-Star, #24 DE Nationally, (Rivals)
Top Offers: Michigan, Ohio St., Oregon, USC, Arizona St., Utah
Size: 6’4 250 lbs.
Projected College Position: 5-Tech/4i
Player Comparison: Brian Robison (Texas 2002-2006)
Analysis: I’ve got really high hopes for this guy. His body is just scratching the surface of what it will be after a few years under Yancy McKnight in Texas’ Strength and Conditioning program.

Fillinger is a state champion in the Shot Put, which is an indicator of the explosiveness that he possesses in his lower body and the torque (power) that he is able to create from an athletic position at his size. The comparison to former Longhorn standout and 11-year NFL veteran for the Minnesota Vikings, Brian Robison, comes from the excellent athletic ability that he possesses at his size.

Fillinger was the Defensive Line MVP at a loaded “The Opening” Regional that was held in Oakland, CA. At just 16 years old, he measured at 6’4 and 250 lbs.

As Will alluded to in his piece yesterday, Fillinger tested in the 99th percentile of all athletes that participated in “The Opening” series this spring/summer. His 4.25 short shuttle time would have been the 5th best (!!!!) time out of every EDGE and Defensive Lineman that participated in the 2019 NFL Combine. In comparison, Mississippi State’s Montez Sweat (4.29) and Michigan’s Rashan Gary (4.29), who were 1st-Round picks, had slower times.

His “Peak Power” score and Power Ball toss also scored in the 99th percentile of all High School athletes in America. Texas landed an elite jumbo athlete, that has the potential to eventually be able to play every position along their defensive front.

On tape, he is a man amongst boys playing at his current competition level. He plays with a tenacity and level of aggressiveness that you love to see out of all young linemen and it’s something that can’t really be taught. He is explosive from a stand-still position and already understands how to convert his speed to power. Like all young linemen, he will need to get stronger at the point of attack at the next level and will need time to hone is craft technique-wise and wit
