Would he have a bigger problem than any other Democrat would? For any Christian who would consider voting Democratic, I doubt that him being gay would be a significant problem. Hell, Milo Yiannopolos brags about having promiscuous sex with big black dudes, but most Trump supporters would happily vote for him if they could.

Not necessarily "happily". Depends on who he is running against. Trump himself got a lot of "anybody but Grandma Mao-pants" votes.

What ever happened to Milo, anyway? I don't see him at all anymore these days.
 
I think it's hard to say. I think he'd do well with suburban whites. However, I think he'd have a hard time motivating minorities. Are black dudes and Catholic Hispanics going to go all out for an elite, extremely white, gay guy with an extremely white name? Maybe, but I'm skeptical.

Good questions, but I don't think it would matter. Buttigieg is polished, rational, and moderately liberal. Blacks vote for people today who have pushed the LGBT+ agenda to high levels of success that they have achieved so far. I doubt an actual gay man would be too big of a deal. Plus those who are voting Dem are getting their voting cues from media and entertainment. They will be pushing the Dem candidate clearly.

Catholic Hispanics already vote for pro-abortionists all the time. This won't be any different.

Elite, extremely white, is all they have ever voted for. Not sure adding gay at the end of the list will matter. He would be the first gay President which would be a big rallying cry for the Left. Even when he says things a Conservative would find horrendous, he does so in a calm, reasonable way with a respectable tone. I think this is what makes him dangerous, plus I don't think Trump will be able criticize him with the same bite that he can with the others.

To me, it makes little difference. But if you don't think it matters to a decent chunk of the electorate you only need to attend Sunday School classes, as many do. The numbers of those attending and that are active voters, is high. The homosexual lifestyle won't fly with 80 percent plus of those. That's a high number to climb. I am probably the only attendee in our SS class that hasn't openly derided Buttigeig (i'm no fan of him either)

As I understand, African Americans aren't very warm to Mayor Pete. That could change, and must, if he stands a chance in the GE

I don't think people in Sunday School are voting much for Democrats these days anyway. For those who are, voting for a gay man won't be an issue. They will be voting against the man who in their minds is a racist, sexist, profane, crude, liar, and monster. Being gay to Christians who vote Democrat is much more acceptable.

To be clear, I don't think large numbers of blacks or Hispanics will go vote for Trump because Buttigieg is gay. The issue I see is that I'm not so sure they'll turn out in a big numbers for him, and that makes a very big difference. Ask Hillary Clinton, who would have won had she gotten Obama's levels of turnout from blacks and Hispanics.

I repeat he is unelectable as POTUS. South Bend would not re-elect him so why would the Rust Belt, South or Independent Christians vote for him? Plus, somehow he is not radical left enough to draw voter participation from the left wing.

This is why you don’t mess with accomplished billionaires who earned their wealth like Gates, etc. They have the money and the skills. I wish it weren’t the case, but there is not a better alternative.
