From the looks of it you don't have any. I'm sure some will open up. They always do. I wouldn't be too worried about it.I'm curious how many spots we have open (if any).

Texas isn't currently in my travel plans. I was hoping to get to 1 game a month. I usually skip November because everyone looks horrible in November. I will already be going to Canada for Kia Nurse's home coming game in December. January I was thinking I would go to the Temple game. Then South Carolina in February. Regionals in Albany, then if all goes well the FF. Don't think I can swing Texas this year (the cost of flights have not gone down even with the lower prices of fuel) but it is certainly a place I would like to see a game in the future. I will be watching Texas very closely the next few years. I had them in my FF bracket last year. They better not mess me up this year!Nuyoika--will you be traveling to Austin for the UConn game?
By my chart, we have up to six possible openings for 2018, four for sure. Right now, we got five verbals counting Charli. I wonder if both Egbo and Williams come here, who's graduating early/leaving. Or if it's a case of who commits first of Egbo and Williams.I'm curious how many spots we have open (if any).
Your first bullet has crossed my mind more than a few times. Considering her injury history and Audrey-Ann graduating, it wouldn't surprise me if Khaleann took a medical as well.I am greedy! I would still like Queen Egbo (who I have been a big fan of for a couple of years) and Christyn Williams (who I'd written us off for several timtes on here).
But, the numbers have to be tight. Coach A knows what she is doing, though.
Lots of stuff could be going on behind he scenes as far as future roster management. I can only imagine that we have at most one slot left for the 2018 class; but, who knows?
Things we don't know:
- will Khaleann and Jatarie use their fifth years of eligibility at Texas in 2018-19?
- will other underclassmen move on after this season?
- is Shae Routt's injury more serious than we know, and perhaps is coming to Texas on a medical hardship? Some schools do honor scholarships even if players get hurt in high school.
There's going to be plenty of competition for playing time -- that's for sure! I will say, however, Karen and her staff manage to share minutes pretty effectively... having all the depth will fit quite nicely into the "keep-fresh-legs-on-the-court-at-all-times" coaching philosophy employed by UT. Don't know if anyone realizes it or not, but it's been decades (late 80's early 90's) since we've hauled in consecutive recruiting classes like we have done the last four (now five) years in a row. I'm SUPER PLEASED with and SUPER PROUD of the work our staff has done!Mind boggled. We're going to be amazing in the paint. Not that that's the only place these kids can play. Where are they all going to go? Jatarie, Rellah, Joyner, Charli, Sedona, the twins, Jordan, have I missed anyone? I'm thrilled (though a bit worried about everyone getting playing time). All these players are good enough to get lots of time. Not sure how the coaches will work that, but I'm sure they have ideas. I don't quite see how Queen would fit into this front court, but maybe so.
We'll see... I've seen lots of successful coaches (some who won more than one NC) who were not THE BEST tacticians, but surrounded themselves with people who coild see things they couldn't. There is a lot that goes into coaching, with recruiting prowess being IMO the most important. You can't make chicken salad out of chicken feathers. Look at Fennelly, Coale, and Mittie... IMO the best in the conference at Xs and Os amd among the best in the nation. Sometimes when your roster is loaded the best coaching job you can do is implement some structure then just roll the ball out there and let the players play. I think Debbie Ryan made mention of that once. At any rate, we're definitely doing just fine in the recruiting dept.and I'm confident our coaching staff is MORE THAN COMPETENT with strategies as well. This team certainly has an abundance of talent coming. Wonder if Coach K is feeling some stress? With all these top level players it's a given that she has to get them to the F4 and then to win a National Championship. I've read other boards and some are saying that her recruiting ability far outweighs her coaching. I guess we will find out.
