2018 Recruiting - Football

All I know about recruiting in any given year is what I can get here or elsewhere for free. But this sounds to me he's looking for a way to sign with another school and not come off as a "bad guy" which he's not in my opinion. I won't be surprised either way.

This was written yesterday. The tense in the article is 100% wrong. “Makes visit” as in “plans to” visit. Still not confirmed.
Marcus Dupree, Keith Jackson, Randy Simmons, Jerod Douglas, Robert Strait, Adrian Peterson, all the way back to Jack Mildren.
All of these guys were must-get that we didn’t get.
We managed then & we’ll manage now.

Hook ‘em.

On Coburn: Important to point out that while there is cause for a raised eyebrow or a bead of sweat, still no real smoke that points to a fire elsewhere...at least not that I am aware of...

I've read this about Jackson several times and just don't recall us being a major player for him at least late in the process. Arkansas was the team screaming foul when he signed with OU. And our passing game at the time wouldn't have utilzed him to a great extent anyway. Not my idea of a must get.

I noticed that too
The tweet and the headline dont match the article
Not sure if any of that fake news is on Craven

I guess my point is there are no must gets.
Jack Mildren/Eddie Phillips, Marcus Dupree/Edwin Simmons, Adrian Peterson/Ramonce Taylor, etc. Let’s celebrate who signs here and not worry about who doesn’t.
Like “The Dude”, Texas football abides.

If that’s the truth it is a really lame excuse

Here is Holland's version of events

Yeah I should have been more comlete on that part. Worrying on who you don't get is a fool's errand.

Vernon Jackson did make it in for his OV to aggy
This is one of those that no one knows for sure what is going to happen, not even him
I like him, hope its us

Keith Jackson chose Texas; mom chose Arkansas. They compromised by choosing the Arkansas alumni club.

As for passing, how often did Barry throw the ball?

Then why bother to commit if you get upset if people know you are visiting the school you are committed to?

I think he wanted to create some suspense for the announcement. There has been some suggestion he was going to Austin to make his announcement video, which he wanted to keep secret. That's about all I know.

I always knew it was a longshot for Waddle
But his skillset would have been perfect for us so I held out hope. But seem to be formally over now

Now I did just remember Troy Aikman was the starter for them in 85 but got hurt in game 2 or 3. Then holloway came in and troy never played another down and transferred to UCLA.

Part of that transfer was because Barry promised to change the offense to more of a pro style, but had no one to run it, so he went back. At least Barry did man up and tell Aikman, so he could explore his options.

Yeah the year before was when he brought in Mack to do just that. That was Jackson's freshman year so maybe he bought into it too. First year I can remember us not throwing strictly when we had to was '87 with Brett Stafford.

Edit- Or at least enough for it to be a substantial part of the gameplan.

When Bret told Jackie he was going to Texas (a Sunday night IIRC), was not one of Jackie's finest moments.
