2018 Recruiting - Football

It is going down to the wire for us with 3 WRs --
Waddle, Bush and Keys
We are still working hard on all of them
Might get one or none

We are out of it for Jalen Preston (aggy put the squeeze on him)
But Josh Moore looks good for us

And, FWIW, 2019 is looking like a very strong WR class

Nahlin of Inside Texas says --

"Not worried about Coburn.
Not worried about Ingram."

Consistent with this, OB says that Coburn won't be taking any visits this weekend.

A couple notes on the walkons from BON -

-- Houston Clear Brook running back Jarrett Smith was the most consequential of the three preferred walk-ons to join the Longhorns — the 5’5, 184-pounder was a productive player in high school and held offers from multiple Ivy League schools, as well as two service academies. Smith could eventually make a difference on the scout team with his listed 4.48 speed.

-- Jackson Hanna is a 6’3. 230-pound hybrid defensive end/outside linebacker from Houston St. Thomas

-- Folsom, Cal OL Matt Frost noted he’s wanted to play for the Longhorns since he was five years old. Frost is a 6’4, 270-pounder who played on a state championship-winning team at Folsom, exactly the kind of pedigree that head coach Tom Herman wants across his football program.

Worried about Anderson looking at Michigan. Does Texas have any women that can compete with this?

Walk into the any of one of the Kappa, Pi Phi, Theta, Tri Delt houses, cull the first 25, and pick any one of the next 50, plus they all come from money.
I’ll probably get brutalized for writing this but, just don’t include our cheerleaders in the discussion. I just don’t think we compete well in that area.

Anderson's word of the month is 'clarity'
It reminds me of the way the Texans have been using the word 'alignment' with all the new hirings

Sounds like I missed something by going to an all-male college

There are a few exceptions, like W&L. When it was all male, there were some large number (20+) of all female schools within one hour of Lexington. l cannot speak personally to the quality of the talent at those schools except for one particular young lady from Houston. If, however, you are outnumbered 30/40 to one, there has to be some talent in those numbers.

:hookem2:

Your all male college and the user of the graduates have even seen the light! Of course Minot, ND is still an option.
Viper, I graduated in 1968; USAFA didn't admit women until 1976, well after I was gone. There were several alternatives for female companionship within easy driving distance in Denver and Colorado Springs. I found a lovely young lady in Colorado Springs - we will celebrate our 49th anniversary in March.

And I did manage to avoid being assigned to Minot during my career. Guys that have been to Minot say it's not the end of the world, but you can see it from there.

So what do you think said squeeze (on Preston) looked like? Been wondering that ever since the OV to us was cancelled....

One possibility -- A couple of his high school teammates accepted offers from aggy. They were both lower ranked. And they did not sign early. So, maybe Jimbo threatened their status if Preston flew the coop? I would not put it past them. They are pretty desperate this class and Preston is their highest ranked commit.

Has he landed a 4 Star or higher that wasn’t a prior Sumlin commitment?
