===== 2010 F1 Season Thread =====

F1 2010 comes out on XBox360 and PS3 on 9/24/2010.

Can't wait to race at Spa....and then at Austin in a couple of years (in prep for running the real thing, of course

).

This game looks epic.

We gonna do a little online racing?

What was that stuff on the track other than the cars? It made a spray or something. Weird, what is it?

I see that Karun Chandhok has been replaced in favour of the Japanese racer. At first it was Senna a couple of races back. There has been talk in the past about Force India maybe bringing him on which would be massive for an Indian team to have an Indian driver.

I like HRT because of Chandhok but really like the aggression of Force India so if he went there it would sit well with me. I could eat Biryani one race, Buttered Chicken the next and Masala Dosa after that. Then settle down with Samosa's and the list goes on and on and on.

Why did I schedule my Fridge to be delivered between 7 - 9 on a Saturday?!?!

The rain starts any minute now.

Actually, Shumachers team just said no more than 5 minutes of dry track. Waiting for the weather to decide what to do with the tires.

NASCAR = rain stops the race

F1 = rain means a change of tire

Ha, another teams engineer says the rain in 10 minutes. This affects your strategy for sure. I love the radio broadcasts of the teams.

Yeah...Vettel seems to have had his share of problems outbraking people lately, and today esp at the Bus Stop.

Great race today. Great run by Hamilton & nice recovery by Webber after almost stalling on the line. I felt a bit sorry for Hammy when the team had him stay out too long in the rain. Almost cost him the win, imho. Nice job by Kubica, too, after a good start.

Lots of interesting strategy/tire calls forced by the weather doing/not doing what people thought it would. Love that ****. It brings such an awesome variable into the mix that you don't get with series that race in the dry only.

A Ferrari is out!

What is awesome about the size of Spa and the rain is that some of the track is not that wet while others are flat out drenched.

Schumaker has done a great job coming up from what, 21st spot at the start? I think he knows a thing or two about not only Spa but this F1 thing.

WHOA, spin out and then that shot of the cars whizzing by in the rain with the spray coming behind them was an amazing sight. The red tail lights flickering in a haze of rain spray and then they just vanish after jockeying around on the straight. Chubby.

In 2012 the USGP will be squezed in before or after the Canadian GP. Let's hope Tavo can convince them that the earlier the better (but since the race will start between 9 and 11 for Europe TV) most of the heat will be avoided any way.

Nice race today, at least for me.

3 of my very favorite drivers took the podium.

Also, this guy is reportedly
ok. Amazing.

This link won't last, so check it out:

Very entertaining race on several levels. However, the best thing for the sport was Hamilton owning up to the fact that no one was to blame for his out except for himself. If my memory is correct this is the first time in his F1 career that he hasn't blamed some one else.

...and it was funny, he was reluctant to do that til he looked at the tape. But at least he did it.

Been at work all day, and for the first time, I found a FREE, live stream of the BBC coverage. That's the only way I could watch. I have to say their coverage was UNBELIEVABLE. I didn't catch it until a couple laps after the start, but judging from how much coverage there was after the race (at least 90 minutes..I'm thinking it was more like 2-2.5 hours), the pre-race coverage must have been amazing and extensive.

It was simply stunning.

F1 2010 from Codemasters comes out tomorrow in the U.S. ...

This will be badass. I've been watching the development of this game with a lot of interest. The crash and damage modeling looks amazing. The weather, track detail, car detail, and everything else I can see looks unbelievable. I just hope they got the physics right. If they did, this game will be a home run with a very tough audience.

Once I get half way decent at it, I'll probably start racing on PlayStation Network as "f1austin".

Enjoy:

While cornering with racing slicks, cars don't make squealing noises like when your younger brother tries to drive fast in his 1970 Pontiac Bonneville. Otherwise, pretty realistic.

Great race. Hamilton is learning the hard way that his bullying days are over. This will make a better driver out of him.

Can Fred actually win this deal?

It was hard to keep away from your post but I managed and just finished watching it on the dvr. Wow, there really was some of everything in this race to include fire!

The race has heated up and hopefully they will have 4 races. I sure hope there is not the kind of debate about Austin like they are having about Korea and their being ready for the race.

Would they allow somewhere else to host that final race or scrap it? Surely they have a contingency plan in place such as a backup venue, right? How does this work?

Korea is the reason I have been yelling since the announcement that there is no time to waste. The best thing that Austin has going for it is most of the year the work can go 24/7 if they have to in order to finish. As critical as the FIA and FOM are of anything US related, Austin has to come out of the box right. That is why all of this talk of not improving the roads before the 2012 race and then slowly developing the infrastructure, is not in anyone's best interest.

The problem is any track has to be approved by the FIA. There are several in Europe that are not currently on the schedule, but as far as I know the only approved facility in Asia (where all of the teams and equipment are) is Fuiji in Japan. I would doubt that as late as the decision is going to be (no more than 2 weeks from the race date) that no attempt will be made to hold the race anywhere except in Korea.

I suspect that if the racing surface and safety items are ok they will race in Korea. I read earlier today that the teams are gearing for a very bare bones track/race in Korea with a very sparce crowd.
