...

Someone posted on the Shaggy board that the altercation alluded to in the Houston Chronicle article was between Pierce, Charlie Hurley and Hurley's father (after the Cincinnati game at the B12 tourney). Pierce supposedly told Hurley he was no longer with the team and to turn in his jersey. The other players in the locker room allegedly threatened to turn in their jerseys too. Sounds like a huge mess if true...

Dang. Where’s Rudy when you need him???

seriously though. I wonder what the root of the altercation was. There are certainly situations where a coach had the right to tell a player to turn his jersey in and get off the team. Also plenty of situations where the coach is totally at fault to do this. Given that the players reportedly sided with their teammate tells me the coach was in the wrong and/or isn’t well respected in the locker room.

Just FYI...

Per OTF, the contract is signed, and the deal is done. We're just waiting for the announcement. They think Wednesday or Thursday will be the day.

Some dude at TexAgs who claims connections to coaches/big cigars at Texas and the B12 said the same and said it is Schloss.

The fact they are waiting until Wed or Thurs means it is either Schloss or Vitello.

I was in Omaha in 2004 when we lost to Cal State Fullerton and 2009 when we lost to LSU. Nobody remembers the second place team except fans of the second place team, and over time even those fans will forget the good parts of that particular season and be left with only painful memories of the final series loss. Tough luck, aggy! :smile1:
Wichita Stare hurt the most.

When pierce got rid of woody as pitching coach and took over his duties I thought at the time it was a mistake and may lead to his departure if it didn’t go well. It didn’t and here we are. Pitching has always been a strong suit of the Texas baseball program. This year it was not. Pierce sealed his own fate.

I thought the same and have said so here before. I thought Woody was a home-run hire and felt his leaving might be the thing that does Pierce in. It was, at least partly.

Don't be too sore at Pierce for jilting us folks.

This Schloss guy comes with good recommendations and will work out just fine.

Hope it’s true. He is a really good baseball coach. Not only that Aggy lost last night and still never win anything and we go take their coach away. This would be perfect.

Does anyone have accurate info about what,'s going on in the aTm athletic department? Wondering if the Jimbo fiasco, new president and new AD has everyone on edge. It's probably not a pleasant place to work... especially with an AD who came from a volleyball school. I would have some sympathy for them, if they are in a dysfunctional workplace, but I assume pretty much everything about Aggieland is dysfunctional, LOL. (Yes, I have Aggie friends .. who are nice, normal people; just erred in their choice of college.)

I read that BMDs didn't cover enough of Jimbo's $100M so they can't match UT's offer to Schloss.

I finally got the truth tonight from some Aggie friends who had been congratulating me for several days. I was skeptical of their attitude and thought they were trying to set me up for the big joke. Turns out that they have been trying to sit down with Schloss to renegotiate his contract for several weeks, but he wouldn't do it.

LORD help me. I might just die of schadenfreude. We made him an offer he couldn't refuse...GET THE HELL OUT IF COLLEGE STATION.

Sometimes you just want to go back to work with and for a good friend.

Sometimes you want to get the hell away from a toxic culture.

And sometimes, both of those things can be true at the same time.

SN,

We should never overlook, and the Aggies will never understand, the 500 pound gorilla in this deal, and that is Trev. He had ZERO relationship with Schloss and less communication. You won't meet any of the old Ag BMDs bitching about this deal. They were resigned to it weeks before this week, but could only sit on the sideline and watch.

Trev's next stop? I'm trying to warn our friends in Seguin that he will not improve Texas Lutheran's athletic department.

Maybe you just need to read a whole bunch of Chop's posts to understand his style. That might help you to take his exact spin on things a little less literally.

Yes, I know his style/spin but I suspect most of us are tired of reading the posts about how great Pierce was and how he should be retained, and now that it is abundantly clear that CDC disagreed it might be a good time to change the tune.

Give the man some time to grieve - CDC broke the man’s heart.

Pierce did better than Strong and Herman after Mack, so he beats his coaching contemporaries at Texas.
