The ABSOLUTE BEST THING about this countdown is we get to remember and salute so many GREAT Horns.
To you posters who take the time to find and post all these Horns :bow::bow::trophy::trophy::trophy::clap::clap::clap::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::hookem2::hookem2::hookem2::hookem2::hookem2::hookem2::hookem2::hookem2::hookem2::hookem2::hookem2::hookem2::hookem2::hookem2::hookem2::hookem2::hookem2::hookem2::hookem2::hookem2:

After playing on the defensive side of the ball, Davis was moved to the offensive line during Mack Brown’s first year as head coach. He blocked for three consecutive thousand-yard rushers (Ricky and Hodges Mitchell twice). He was a two-time finalist for the Outland Trophy and a semi-finalist for the Lombardi Trophy.
  • 2X All conference
  • 2X All American (consensus in 2000)
  • Second overall pick in the 2001 draft
  • Twelve seasons in the league
  • Three time Pro Bowler
  • Second team All Pro in 2007
  • Super Bowl ring with the Niners in 2012
  • Longhorn Hall of Honor 2016
Known simply as “Big” (possibly my favorite nickname of all time).

Guy played single A football in high school. His highlight tapes were just silly, as he was double the size of most every other player out there.

Listed at 6’10”/285 lbs, one might classify him as a large human being.
Team co-captain in 1989, knee issues short circuited his professional career.
Great video about him coming back to campus 26 years after playing his last game in burnt orange and earning his degree and T-ring (available on Texassports and YouTube) and what it meant to him.

I never would have guessed Whittier was the same height as DKR! '72 roster lists him at 5'-10" 205#. I always pictured him at bigger than that. About the size of current safeties.

Some of you may know, Whittier is credited with breaking the "color barrier" at UT. He went on to graduate and get his JD at UT Law School. Became a distinguised and respected Attorney in Dallas. Unfortunately he died a few years ago at 68 years of CTE - I had to look up his exact age. There is a statue of him outside the North end of DKR-TMS.
