Johnny "Lampasses" Jones was not only a football stud, but an exceptional track star at UT.

Won a gold medal as part of a track relay team in the 1976 Olympics.

Played in the NFL for the Jets and i think briefly played for the Cowboys.

He is a Longhorn legend! :hookem:

Last night, LHN replayed the glorious and delicious 49-0 BEATDOWN of ou Oct. '22.

It reminded me, we are approx. 60 days from the rematch when the Horns of righteousness will once again smite down the lowly & evil sooners and then send the great unwashed ou masses home with another bitter LOSS !!! :headbang:

Phil Harris, San Antonio Jefferson

Shown here hauling in a 58 yard touchdown pass from Duke Carlisle three minutes into the first quarter of the ‘64 Cotton Bowl. He racked up 157 yards receiving that day and holds the CB record of 52.3 yards per catch.

More to follow, I’m sure. #25 could accurately be described as a target-rich environment.

Anytime you get the 110m hurdle state champion as your RB (who can play football), you know you have something special. Any moron can make that determination.

MC,

You're to young to remember, but we had one who was All SWC Freshman team as an OG AND DE. Hint: Cotton Speyer NEVER beat him in a track meet.

Had to give up football because of a hand/arm injury.

I was sitting on Row 10, Sec. 29 when Jamaal Charles just flew by us on this long TD run in the 4th qtr (his third in the 4th) capping off a 28-25 comeback win. It was a thing of beauty! He had 216 of his 290 yds. rushing in the 4th qtr. alone! :hookem:

I was the guy in section 8 annoying everybody by yelling “run the ball” at GD in the press box.

I was impressed with how strong he was, too; not really expected with someone that fast. He was pretty good between the tackles and moving forward after contact.
