#10 Wishbone QB Marty Akins...DKR, Jan. 1, 1973 Cotton Bowl vs. Alabama - I believe.....

Must be 72 or 74. Played the hogs in Austin in even years.

I sincerely apologize for indicating the wrong year ('73) for Roosevelt Leaks. I do not normally look at home/away and schedules to confirm dates. I was relying on my feeble memory for when I last saw him play for the Horns. Digging up good photos to post can be mind-numbing at times, so bear with me and thanks to all that post pics for the annual 100 Day Countdown thread.

^^^^ yes.

Plus rumor i heard long ago was Cory stopped HF tailgate a few times. Not sure if it was before or after a game....very friendly i heard.

Maybe one of you knows if true.

Ah the age old question! By my count, tomorrow is 39 days until Gameday. The clock says 39 days, 9 hours & 30 minutes. Which means at midnight tonight/tomorrow it will be 39:00. Today is still 40 days. :hookem::whiteflag:

Going by official HF time... 3 hours until 38 days...

#38 LB Glen Gaspard from Winnie / Stowell TX is on deck....

One of my college roommates was from Winnie. His Father owned a huge catfish and rice farm in that area.... visited there a few times. One or three traffic lights in the whole town as I remember in the early to mid-70's. Many people around there talk with a Louisiana accent.;)

Suspect @SabreHorn has been there too.

Been through there many times. I can't think of a single reason to stop in Winnie. Back in the day, however, there were two sisters at Texas from Anahuac, and they would make a freight train take a dirt road.

For those wanting to argue, the two big crawfish farms are technically in Fannett, which is across the county line in Jefferson County. That is Fannett as in Hampshire- Fannett HS, home of Felman Malveaux, who was instrumental in helping me/us run Lynn Amadee out of Travis County all the way back to Louisiana.

Is AL-T’s still open in Winnie? Good eats at one time!
