You Didn't Build That

I will end it with one last nugget for yall. You know what the problem is with this country? Nobody wants to take responbsibility. You Americans (yes I'm an American too, but a naturalized one) all feel entitled. You want something but don't have the work ethics to get it. Why work when it can be given to you right? Whether is be from your mom, dad, boyfriend, girlfriend, sister, brother, baby daddy, brother's sister in law's aunt, or uncle Sam.

Stop feelng entitled like our football team a few years did, it doesn't work well. It is time to take resposibility, give credit where credit is due, place blame on ALL of those to blame and move on.

JFK said it best, "ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country". Terrible he went the way he did.

Or better yet Shiner, tell me, did you pay additional taxes last year when you filed or got a refund. If you got a refund, I rest my ******* case!

I think it was the last post where you reversed course. I don't have the time to read through all your posts though. Obviously there was some foreshadowing that I missed.

Good for you! Just make sure you understand that Dear Leader is who allows your business to be successful. I mean, there are a lot of people that work hard, not just you.

Touche Shiner. And stop calling him dear leader, that's only reserved for those crazy North Koreans to call their leader. Iono bout you, but I think we have it JUST a little better than them...

You tell me, I didn't vote in the last election as I had a choice between a man one fall away from being dead and a woman who is crazier than a caged monkey, or a guy that I knew nothing about nor cared for with a running partner that suffers from narcolepsy.

Ask those who voted for or against him and they will tell you.

Yall wanna see the fish I caught today when I went fishing?

The President and most of his supporters seem to forget or not understand that government works for us. Not the other way around. The only reason why it is able to do any of the things, the citizens rely on, is because of successful people.

I read the speech and the sentence that has everyone up in arms is the only thing I disagree with. Seems like some miswriting or a couple of words left out in the delivery. In the next sentence he complimented the creativity of business, but noted that America has created an environment where we have opportunities to learn, to gather capital, to use communal resources to our advantage. Or course, I realize I am mistaken and there will be a Hornfan poster or two who will remind me that they succeeded completely on their own, back to changing their own diapers and killing wild animals for the furskins that they slept on as babies.

If "muah" is you, then yes. Are you bitching about a refund of one of the minority who actually pays taxes to Uncle Sam?

Look: When I read " If you’ve got a business -- you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen." it seems like complete unreasonable bullcrap. I don't agree, don't like and don't support it. Successful business people are some combination of creative, intuitive, hard working, goal oriented, motivational and successful. We couldn't thrive without them. They enrich us as providers of terrific goods and services, innovation, jobs, revenues for governments at all levels.

A lot of them, Warren Buffet, Bill Gates and others, are incredibly generous and do enormous good with their charitable contributions. I'm around successful people all the time and honestly the phrase "giving back" comes up a lot whether they are running for office or helping pay for a child's cancer treatment.

For a rare few the idea of giving back is an insult and they'll outright tell you and post here they were successful completely on their own.

Anaconda, I really do not know why you care, but I try to avoid tax "refunds". Refunds mean that you have the feds a tax free loan. So, I try to avoid doing so. I pay my taxes quarterly but I try hard not to overpay as well. I used to get a lot of deductions, but Barry has reduced or eliminated many of them. The jerk.

Absolutely.

I must say that I've hated Obama's politics forever, but I never hated the man personally. After his comment from Friday, it is personal, and I do. I think the jerk is doing exactly the opposite of what the country needs so badly right now, and it is for strictly political reasons. He makes me sick.

*ehug*

I never cared for politics before because frankly it never affected me, my company, my family personally. But lately, I've come to realize that this country is now being run by the Gov instead of its people. They are only to oversee things, not dictate things.

Politics and business to me for the most part, is a lot of the time a four letter word.

Charles Krauthammer: Obama's "You Didn't Build It" Was Gaffe of Year

CHARLES KRAUTHAMMER: I think Obama has made the gaffe of the year when he said if you created a business, you didn't build it. That phrase, 'you didn't build it' should be hung around Obama until the end of his presidency.

I read the totality of the statement and it's worse if you read it all. Essentially, he has a view that is antithetical to view that the majority of the Americans have, which is that enterprise, initiative of the markets are what drive American wealth and excellence and achievements. Government is parasitic on that and lives off the excess wealth in the form of taxation.

Obama has view at the heart of American excellence and achievement is government. not enterprise. And I think what Romney ought to do is take the headline in today's lead editorial in the Wall Street Journal, 'Solyndra versus Staples.' And he has to have a simple slogan, Romney, which is, 'Obama and his administration gave you Solyndra, using your money incidentally. I and my colleagues in the free enterprise system gave you Staples with all the jobs and all the wealth and all the accrued wealth it gave to the foundations with the pension and the universities that invested with us in those enterprises.'
