First three were definitely deserved, Ramos looked bad in live action but on replay clearly got the ball.

Webb is keeping control of match but would hate to see a side a man short in final.
 
You have to think at some point we will see a red today. These challenges are high and from behind and in an earlier round we might have seen two straight reds already.
 
I wouldn't if it were the Dutch given the way they are playing. A.Robben embelishes everything and is a douche for it. He plays for my Bayern Munich but I am not a fan of his. Not any longer.

V. Bommel is indeed a thug and could have gotten a ticky-tacky second yellow a minute ago. If you have a yellow already you are fool to make challenges like he just did. Then again, he cannot play any other way. That is a strength and a weakness at the same time, perhaps.

The Dutch have been impressive in weathering the storm of the Spaniards early on and taking advantage of their inability to finish more times than not.

I agree with KJ that there is likely to be at least one red card given unless the players adapt or realize that the ref is most def. in control of this game and won't tolerate shenanigans.
 
What a difference between Casillas and the Uruguay goalie, every time he comes off his line he gets it.

Holy cow, almost a goal on a kick back where Dutch were just trying to give up possession.

Very chippy game, 5 yellow cards, 14 free kicks. Webb is doing a good job but both teams dont seem to have settled in.

Dutch whiff on two shots off a really well done corner play.
 
Anybody remember the first couple of years of the MLS and Raul Diaz Arce? He was a mexican goalie who played for the L.A. Galaxy. Players like Marco Etcheverry, El Diablo, with a big kick would take advantage of Raul's aggressive play at goal. He would come out of goal to attack and El Diablo would call for the ball and lob it over his head sending Arce back in a fury to track it down. Good times.

I wonder if Arjen was diagnosed as being narcoleptic growing up since he was likely always laying down on the ground. That or an epileptic writhing around on the ground so often.
 
As half winds down to extra time this has definitely not been a first half for the ages. Both teams had a couple of chances with best goal scoring opportunity seeing Villa put it into the side of net. Best chance for Dutch was on a mishit giveaway that was designed to surrender possession after an injury and took a weird bounce. Lets hope injury time and second half see a better show.
 
A lot of Dutch pressure here in injury time and Robben gets one that looks just on net but Casillas with save.
 
Hard to say of either team had a better half. Neither one is establishing their style of play and you get the feeling both are waiting for a defensive error by other side to get that one elusive goal that would win game.
 
I just consciously realized we have over 1,100 posts this Cup. I think we like this sport we call Soccer. You guys and gals have made it quite enjoyable. I have learned, laughed and lamented with all of you and I want to say thanks right here and now. You made something special even moreso.

Not that I am cheering for Spain I just want to see some goals.
 
Spain have definitely come out with more purpose in first few minutes here of second half.

Incidentally I much prefer these blue kits for Spaniards, very sharp.
 
The Dutch had better take it down a notch or they may find themselves down a man to finish the match.

Have to say they have come out as aggressive as you will see a squad and the referee is trying to keep control only way he can.
 
THAT is a ******** card. I agree with the announcer that if he thought it was a foul worthy of a yellow (if a foul at all which I don't think it was), give it THEN, not later after Meryl Streep is on the pitch. I don't agree with that at all.

There are a couple of others that the Dutch got away with but that is bogus.
