At halftime I really thought Germany was going to pack it in and defend all half but they came out attacking and their speed and youth is deadly. They are too young to just sit back and pack it in. Most dominating performance of tournament and they have certainly announced themselves as best team in South Africa.

Not sure Paraguay can score this afternoon. They may well be playing for 2 hour draw and PK's. Dangerous strategy.
 
I think perhaps what the assistant flagged there is the fact that the other Paraguayan attacker WAS offsides and made a play for the ball, thereby making him "active."

His attempt to head the ball missed, but he did occupy a defender, so I think the call was justified. Tough, but justified.
 
Neither of these teams showing anything suggesting they could stay on field with the Germans.
 
More props to Gem, good catch indeed. He did make a play for the ball and therefore became part of it.

I am so torn in this match. My father and his family is from Barcelona. I am half-Spanish. I have some very good friends who are from Paraguay and this means so much more to them. I am a big fan of Roque Santa Cruz even when not on the pitch.

I like upsets. Hmmmm.

This is incredible. Paraguay dodging bullets and now the Spaniards have room to complain. Cesc was indeed pulled down on the rebound and there should have been another PK. The announcers are right too when they say that the Paraguay player should have been sent off with a red.

Yes Gem. They are saying because he interfered with the goal attempt, last man, in the box. Auto red. I guess it would be semantics to argue whether he embellished or not but contact was made and in the box. That is what they are saying.

DV almost missed that too.

If I had a vote I would cast it for Casias as Man of the Match. His saves are huge, his presence is huge and that is key.

His stop and cover to the PK by Paraguay was a huge emotion builder for Espain.

Of course not, I always miss these things, always. I will have to set the DVR to record it next time it plays.

Instead I got to go buy blinds for a couple of windows, shop for a refrigerator, buy a fuel pump to put on the car and other fun things like that. Envious? All you got to do was watch some awesome tv show. Jealous?

on a side note, did you know that US soccer has "official" bars to watch games at? pretty cool. i'm going to try and get our local fox and the hound in college station to apply for it.
