Sorry, but missing the entire goal area from 12 yards is not forgivable. Ever. Even if you hit the post. It is a big enough area for a pro to hit. Make the keeper save it, but never miss the whole damn thing.
 
Terrible way to decide a soccer match ... but also a terribly exciting way. ;-)

What a difference a few days makes--Asamoah Gyan goes from hero to goat, and though it might be a pyrrhic victory for Uruguay, Luis Suarez will forever be a hero in his home country.
 
Man....what a terrible way to lose such a big match. PK's are always tough enough to lose, but damn, this one is not comprehendible.

our afternoon meeting let out at 4:45 and we all filed into lobby to see the match was just ending. Cannot believe Ghana missed the PK on literally last play of match and then the shootout you just knew Uruguay was going to win.

Huge advantage for Netherlands with no Suarez on field for semifinal.

And yes my hotal is like a funeral parlor with the Brazilians. I was at Dolphin mall for lunch when I saw a man walk in in a Brazil shirt his wife sees him and with her arms full of bags from what must have been a morning shopping she obviously asks him the result and all I hear is "NO NO Hollanda, Hollanda dos a uno" and just tears of despair. Like a death in the family.
 
Suarez did exactly what he had to, give your team a chance because if he doesnt that goes in and there was no way he was getting his head on it to stop it.
 
It's a chess game, and Suarez' move paid off.

What a contrast in games today. I'm happy for the Dutch.

Well now, I guess we see how Argentina plays under pressure. Wow was that quick. This German squad is so young its scary what they may do the next 10 years.
