Seriously 59.00 to fill up my Altima? As it is I squeeze two kids into the back seat. I spend the weekends squeezed in the back seat too because of the baby. I just kept thinking how much more comfortable my Armada was for the kids. We wouldn't have to make a second trip to barton creek from Pflugerville to pick up a kids table that didn't fit in my trunk that already had a stroller. But no I gave up my gas guzzler because I didn't want to be paying 60+ every 5 days in gas. I was willing to sacrifice comfort and convineince to save money. And now I'm still going to pay 60 bucks in gas? Well, looks like I'm screwed

What can I do? Not a damn thing. Just be thankful I don't have the armada anymore because I would be paying 100 to fill up. The gas would be costing me more that the monthly payment for the truck.

right now it's mainly simply driving the older minvan rather than the Expedition. Been contemplating getting rid of the Expedition but we really do like it, but using it as the primary driving vehicle is just stupid now. Last Summer we woudl have taken the Expedition to the pool every weekend. Now it's the minivan that gets the first nod for most errands, and that's probably the biggest change.

The other change is I now use a gas cost equvalent for all things... Choice beef tenderloin is only about 2 gallons a pound.

Sweet.

Smart Cars scare me. I saw them in London years ago. I'd be so worried some soccer mom would hit me with an explorer or other SUV and kill my ***. I'm also worried that I'd accidentally rear-end one in my own car (which I used to think was small) and knock them into the next county. I think that the Toyota Hybrids make more sense if cost isn't a factor.

As for dealing with gas prices I get about 20 mpg in town and 30 on the highway. When I chose where to live last year I knew gas prices would only get worse so I decided to be close to work. I fill up every two weeks or so. Depends on how many trips I make to Lake Travis, Round Rock, etc... I'm thinking about a plug-in hybrid for my next car. Thats at least 4-6 years off.

years ago it cost about $22 - $23 to fill the tank that cost me $49 to fill tonight.

When the hell are we going to say f... off to the environmentalist and start drilling in Anwar AK, Calif , Fla, TX, ND, CO, etc. where we can drill responsibly so we are energy independent for the next 10-20 years?

What about after those 20 years? Then if we don't have the resources or alternatives thriving we are more in their pocket than ever before. The fast solution is not always the best.

I am thinking of selling my car all together and be done with it. I live central to everything. I have no payment so it is pure profit and also no insurance. I am tempted. I would not pull the trigger till about the end of the year. I may spend about 75 bucks on gas by December.

I could then get an electric for short around town ventures.

- Sold my gas guzzling SUV that required premium
- Consolidated my errand running and trips
- Started keeping higher pressure (yet under the max PSI) on my tires
- Started using synthetic fluids
- Started driving at lower rpms
- Started driving the speed limit
