We'll miss you, Loree

amazing how you can hear something like this about someone you never actually met and it can hit you hard. Hornfans wont be the same. prayers to her kids and family.

Yeah, this is tough. She was always very nice and added some class to this place. I'm really shocked to learn of this. Like some of the others, speechless.

Although I didn't really know her away from this board, I was really pulling for her to beat the cigarettes so that maybe her life would be longer, healthier, and happier. Just goes to show how fragile our lives are. Carpe diem.

For those that posted on this and have PM'd people looking for the thread, we thought it was best to hold this until all of Melanie's family had been notified as well as certain other people (so that they did not find out via this website). Now that those people have been informed (to my knowledge), please post your remembrances of Melanie.

As for me, I remember Melanie's first tailgates with us. She came to both football and some baseball tailgates long before she started posting on HornFans. Like many friends, she seemed to find some sort of enjoyment and fulfillment out of this community. We'll miss her presence at the tailgates, the happy hours, and in our online community.

This is terrible news. Prayers to her family.
I also never met her but really enjoyed the wit and no-nonsense insights she brought to Hornfans.

Edit: It is still amazing that you can cry over someone you never met but "knew" through the Internet. Melanie's death is very saddening, but hopefully she is now with God and all is well.

Thank you to Smurfette for letting everyone know about this.

Last time I taked to her was last Friday when she called me for directions to come and meet up with all y'all at the HF happy hour. She loved getting to meet up and hang out with all her fellow Longhorn fans, and that night was no different--she was excited to be surrounded by fellow Orangebloods again!! (She called me for directions b/c I always gave her **** about living here so long and still not knowing her way around Austin, as I'm the one that found her first apartment for her.)

Hook 'em, Loree.

Man she was a great help with on my girl issue thread about a week back. As everyone said, she was a person everyone respected, especially myself. I wish I could have got to know her in person.

Prayers...

I never met her but I feel like I know her.
Her family must be devestated.
Prayers to her loved ones.
OMG ! shocked
I am so sad.

You left us WAY too early sweet friend.

The last time I saw Mel was this past weekend. She was so excited about the Spring Game that she started sending out emails about it 2 weeks before. We all had plans to meet for dinner Friday night and of course she needed Durkee for directions (as he mentioned in his post) after that we met Downtown for some good ol' fashioned trouble making.... I think we were successful

Before heading back to Dallas, a group of us went to brunch together and had a fantastic time full of stories, laughter and genuine good times. I remember one story that she told about taking her son to the ER.... they had just begun using the Dermabond glue instead of sutures and the doctor had an "uh oh" and glued a surgical glove to her poor little son's head. The poor thing had to go weeks with a piece of latex glued to his forehead. I am thankful that I had that time with her and will remember her as the adorable little lady with spunk and lots of sparkle. You could always count on Mel to tell it like it is. We'll miss you Mel!!!

i never really knew here but from what others told me, she seemed like the nicest lady you would ever come across. my prayers are definitely with her family. we will miss you!

I didn't know her, but from reading lots of her posts over the years, especially the one recently about her son wanting to transfer to UTSA, she sounds like a courageous woman who had worked her tail off to raise her boys right.

Peace be with her family.

I got a call a few hours ago about this and am still in shock.
I've played cards, gone drnking and gone to several football games with her and had no idea something like this was coming.

RIP Loree, the tailgates and poker tournaments are not going to be the same.

another person who didn't know her in person but really appreciated her posts and viewed her as insightful, caring and knowledgable. she will be missed.

This is a huge shock. wow, i am at a loss for words. i feel about 99% of my posts are about nothing. yet, there are some posters here that i have read their posts and admire, agree, sometimes disagree with, but Loree was one that posted with substance, humor, insight.

Rest in Peace, you will be missed here. I wish i would have met you in person, but you will be in my prayers. We will miss you.

I don't often post on here or have the time to respond to those who respond to my comments, but there are those who sometimes post only a few words, but say so much, such as Loree did. I will very much miss the thoughts and insite that she shared with this community. May she enjoy great Peace and know that we raise a Hook 'Em to all those who have departed, especially those who have left us much too soon.
