Like Vic’s response here, concerning his own daughter, in reference to playing time:
Tough as nails with a good shot from beyond the arc. I assume she’ll be taking on the same player development role at Texas.Totally forgot his daughter played for him in college. Nice.
Can someone please explain what Title IX is. I keep hearing about it from a lot of sports but I have no idea what it means regarding this specific topic

FIXED! funny because i even googled it. I was so concerned with getting the a and e in the right order I left off the c.Not a big deal, but you might consider correcting the spelling of his Vic's last name in the Subject line of this thread . . .
While I understand and agree that equality should ALWAYS be considered, at the end of the day you hire the best person you can get. I know there are those out there who would've rather had a female over a male even if they knew the male was a better candidate. I'm not one of them. As a male, I would have welcomed the chance to play for some of the top female coaches, so it's not about misogyny with me.
Listening to the interview between Galindo and CDC, it looks like my guess was wrong. According to CDC, he initiated this process the after he let KA go. Grew up in La Grange, interesting.I agree that CDC, barring a finish in the final 4 with KA, had in mind that he was looking for a new coach. But, since it's unlikely that MSU has a Longhorn handy at their place to take a picture, makes you wonder WHEN Vic and his family made the trip to Austin for the job interview.
Maybe this was wrapped up a month ago and CDC has been sitting on it, timing out the KA announcement, letting the hurt feelings settle and then dropping the news of the hire.
I believe what he said (or at least he meant) is that he grew up spending weekends visiting his grandparents in LaGrange. I'm pretty sure that he was born in Austin but grew up mostly in Houston. Attended Lutheran High School and after attending A&M coached for several years at Houston Milby High School.Listening to the interview between Galindo and CDC, it looks like my guess was wrong. Adia Barnes at Arizona is the daughter of former New England Patriots linebacker Pete Barnes. He was African American. In anticipation of a coaching change and reading the "discussions" going on about future coaches, I thought about this as well. First, it's a damned-if-you-do, damned-if-you-don't situation. I did a search of the last 10 years coaches of the year*:
2020 - Dawn Staley [not leaving, she's sitting in the catbird's seat]
2019 - Kim Mulkey [hrrumph, not going there]
2018 - Vic Schaefer [he's got a sweet deal going there, why would he leave?]
2017 - Geno Auriemma [not leaving]
2016 - Auriemma
2015 - Courtney Banghart (Princeton) [know nothing about her]
2014 - Muffet McGraw [too old, not budging]
2013 - McGraw
2012 - Mulkey
2011 - Mulkey
2010 - Connie Yori (Nebraska) - resigned in 2016 under pressure after allegations of player mistreatment
Yes, there's the Oregon coach (white male), the Louisville coach (white male), the Arizona coach (white female), and on and on.
But what about an up and comer who can....
Vic is 59 and everyone including Aggies thought he was waiting for A&M to open up. We got the best proven coach we could get who has a history of rebuilding a program.
Sorry, not sorry.

USBWA Women's National Coach of the Year - Wikipedia
John Cohen is the AD at Mississippi State. This is his announcement about Vic Schaffer leaving. Actually no formal comment at all that Vic had left the program. Seems a little pissed. It appears they will not immediately be offering the job to one of Vic’s assistants. “Making a National search”. Looks more and more like he will be bringing all his assistants with him to Texas.
