Week 9 Prediction Thread: Texas vs. Kansas St...There's No Place Like Home.

We do not know who ksu qb will be.
Right now Martinez is probably ready, but Kleinman - if he is smart- is trying to creatively work with doctors, trainers, and Adrian to delicately make sure he isn't and Howard starts.
My gut says we win if they start AM and lose a close one of they start WH.
Who knows?!?

Ewers second road start. We’ve always kept Deuce in check for some reason and our run D is strength of defense this year. But if we are up 10 with 4 to go in 3rd I’ll be on verge of heart attack for the next hour

our bend, but don't break defense is fairly effective holding them to the upper 30s. our QB either gets his stuff back together and we win, or he doesn't and we lose.

Still a little surprised to see how many media and betting and various outlet "experts" are picking Texas...
...Theyve almost convinced me.
By far I see the majority picking Texas. I mean, I can certainly see how Texas could win...just suprised so many football gurus see it happening...albeit a skin of the teeth pick by most.

I’m making a last day change in my prediction. I was predicting a loss. However Kansas State can afford a loss and longhorns cannot. The longhorns historically do well when counted out. The team seems to be healthy overall...especially the line. The best coach wins this game. If the officiating is impartial the longhorns win.

Last week I went against my Season Confidence Prediction where I picked Texas to lose versus OK St., and I was wrong. This week I am sticking with my confidence prediction of a Texas win.

The key to this game is making KSU one dimensional and keeping them in long 3rd down conversions (even though we suck at those). I don't think Martinez can beat us with his arm.

QE bounces back this week and we score enough to win.

Texas - 34

Kansas St - 30

Does anyone happen to know anything about the team's travel plans?
Wondering how, if at all, the weather might impact...

Line has hovered around Texas -2.5 much of the week and the O/U sits at 54. Texas is -140 and KSt +120 on the ML, which is not really a giant spread.

Weather places the game in the mid-50's with winds that run roughly 17-20mph SSW. Given the North-South stadium setting, this could be a factor in both the deep ball and the kicking game.

I've been buried in a project and have not had time to do the deep dive y'all have come to expect from me.

On paper, KSt seems to be capable of shutting a passing game down, giving up an average of 222 per game. They absolutely manhandled the I'm a Man's last week, giving up as many points as Astros pitching did on Wednesday night (zero). They have also beaten two of the programs that Sark gave wins away to in the second halves of games.

Texas is averaging 183 per game on the ground, hitting the hole for an average of 5+ per clip. This ALSO burns clock AND would limit the number of occasions a ball could hang due to the wind. I'm good with clock control, but I don't know if Sark shares that opinion...

Whatever Texas does, they MUST make adjustments at the half. Someone show Sark a rulebook...it IS allowed to adjust.

Home teams are 8-2 in the last ten of the series, and since KSt is getting points, that does not bode well for Texas. KSt is sitting at 13 in the rankings and is 10-0 ATS as a Top 25 team. I wish we could say the streaks end, but alas...

I'm calling this one as:

KSt- 31
Texas- 24

This would be a cover for KSt with the game just barely going over, depending on where the game closes. The difference will be the wind and Texas having the wrong end of the stadium in a crucial moment...

"the best coach wins" and your picking texas?
that does not compute.

Raining today but tomorrow night looks like ideal weather for football, cool and clear.
Yeah...i was talking travel timing, getting settled in affect...not game. If they were going up last evening it could have impacted optimal planning

KSU is going to win this. I don't think Texas matches up well. KSU 31 - 27 Texas
UT has fielded a pretty solid run d. and this is suppose to be ksus strength. Problem is...last week it was Will Howard through the air. I see this coming down to which qb starts for ksu and if they can beat us with the pass. They may beat us running...but I do not think it the likeliest scenario. I also, similarly think we will work hard for rushing yards and Quinn and the WRs will have to be much sharper this week.
If i was a betting man, though, Id put $ on Bijans total rush yds over DV in a heartbeat.

I would agree Texas doesn't match up well.
I tend to disagree with this assessment. The strength of our D is the line. Quality, interchangeable parts. KSU tends to be a running team, and not typically a proficient passing offense. If that plays out, we could have a good night.
