Ukraine updates

I wonder if allowing long range bombing, the US military wants to test them in action.

More likely is defense contractors want $$$ since they know they will see shortfalls under Trump...

No war means fewer $$$. This is Quid Pro Joe's parting pass of the hat.

I wonder why no one has said anything
Is it less serious than I think it is?

I believe Putin has previously said that use of these missiles in Russia is considered an act of war.

Joe wants to increase his 10%

I’m biased. My deceased wife was Ukrainian. One might read about the Holomodor to understand Ukrainian history. Holomodor means horror death.

What Stalin did to the Ukrainians a hundred years ago was clearly genocide. There would be 20 million more Ukrainians living today and fewer Russians living in Eastern Ukraine had they not been starved and executed.in the 20’s.

We must stop Putin. Russia has broken every treaty they have ever signed. They consider negotiations as a sign of weakness.

Trump is likely to be much tougher on Putin than Bidone. He’s listening to Poland not Deutschland.

The US and EU are still pushing this war to nuclear war and maybe world war. Our government is pushing Ukraine to conscript younger and younger males.

I really hope Trump prioritizes ending this war asap.

All our lives depend on it.

Wasn’t this war always a choice?

It depends on what terms. Sure, easy peasy if you allow Putin to annex all occupied territory. Not so easy if you demand Putin pull all the way back. And even further, if you ask him to return Crimea to Ukraine.

It's like Kennedy being a hero over the removal of Soviet Union missiles in Cuba. No mention of pulling back our missiles in Turkey.

Obama "gave" Crimea to Russia. Putin will defend that to the bitter end.

The Donbas Region would return to Ukraine with six months of European Military Force governing the region and free passage of Russian citizens back to Russia. After that, it is acknowledged to be Ukraine's.

This isn't a US or NATO fight.

Is that what you're hearing? I've not read up on it. My son works for the DOD and we've been obsessed with the severance stuff. Also, I would think Trump would tell Putin, "No NATO for Ukraine."

Trump has to give Ukraine something other than a promise of peace. Crimea is what Ukraine wants, but since Obama caved and did nothing in 2014, that is off the table. The land that Russia has gained in the war is on the table, and Trump's people will tell the little Russian man you want Donbas or Crimea? They have to have Crimea for the ports so Donbas (less the Russian citizens) gets to stay with Ukraine.

Since Europe's stupidity shuttered their nuclear plants, they now lack the current knowledge of how to clean up Ukraine's nuclear power plants. The only American involvement would be to clean up and get Ukraine's nuclear power plants online again.

True.

Russia will fight for that to the bitter end too. It goes back to the days when that area was called Novo-rusiya. The people of Donbas don't want to be ruled by Kiev anyway.

True. Or at least it shouldn't be.

When Putin doesn't budge on giving back Donbas he will wake up one morning only to find the US Navy blockading the Crimean ports.

The Donbas people who want to go back to Russia will have 60 days to do that.

Not going to happen. That would start a nuclear war. Glad people who think like this aren't in office anymore.

The Donbas people are Russians who were being killed and oppressed by the Ukrainian government in multiple ways after 2014. They have lived in the area for multiple generations. The land will go to Russia in a negotiation, or Russia will keep fighting. It's simple.

The only alternative is if Donbas becomes an independent state from Ukraine. So neither side technically gets it.

Ha! Putin has to have Criema and will sacrifice Donbas for that (just like the thousands of soldiers he is sacrificing now).
