If winning is the issue, I would rather have Petrino as head coach. I do not think together will work because Jimbo has an ego and a guaranteed contract = no hot seat.Duke,
Petrino is one of the best QB coaches in the country. Left alone (which won't happen), I'd put money on Weigand winning the Hype$man.
Nobody can succeed as OC/QB coach because Jimbo won't let them do their job.
This is like a Shakespear play on the Brazos.Petrino will have to have some guarantees from BMDs. Jimbo won't surrender the offense and/or play calling to anyone. He will consider Petrino the next "fall guy", but Petrino will consider himself HC in waiting.
The 20 something intern was also his assistants girlfriend.Re: PetriNo
Anybody that does their 20 something Intern while they are married and representing their school as head coach ,in most circles goes down as a d—-. But he can coach.
Um, c'mon guys, we all know it is likely at least some of those in the portal will likely stay at A&M. The number raising their hand to leave is still stunning, though.
I quess cleaning houseWith 22 in the portal and another 13 seniors on the roster that's 35 (and still increasing) of the 85 players on scholarship departing. Almost 42% of their roster will be completely new next year.
This team did have a losing record. Maybe aggie is cleaning house to create a new tradition of filling their roster from the stands? With 22 in the portal and another 13 seniors on the roster that's 35 (and still increasing) of the 85 players on scholarship departing. Yes.Dave,
Are you suggesting the beginning of a new Aggie tradition - the 36th man?
LD
Great idea
Aggie only needs 12, get slimmed down by the Portal makes it more likely that aggie will get to call someone down to the field and the rest of them can sit down.
And maybe they can come up with a catchy name for it.
Yeah, “Much ado about nothing.”This is like a Shakespear play on the Brazos.
WOW! What overwhelming condemnation of a person I doubt anyone on this board has dealt with one on one. I was once asked by certain people in our department to help "fix" an unfortunate situation we had.
I called Petrino in Fayetteville, reminded him how we knew each other and ask him about our situation. He told me to have the kid and his parents call him. He said he would indeed take the kid, but he wanted to be upfront with them. He had his starter for the next three years. If his guy got hurt, this kid would be prepared to step in and play. He also said a good friend of his had just taken a HC job and needed a starter. The family was welcome to use him as a referral and choose between the two. Class act in my book.
As for the motorcycle incident, Johnny Tyson wasn't going to put up with that or it's doubtful Petrino would have been fired.
While we are throwing stones, let us not forget our assistant coach that called around looking for someone to help him give his girlfriend a new car without his wife finding out about it. Then there is the assistant that liked adult beverages a little too much, but worse he bet on games including ours. Those, people, are just for starters.

No sirIs there one underlying cause?
How many were in 2022 incoming recruiting with NILdeals?
Why so many?
They went from gloating to laughing stock.
To be fair, they have to do something twice for it to become a tradition. And this: I think I read that A&M 22’ class in the portal ranks higher than the 23’ class so far. That should be a tradition.
25 currently in the portal. Also, Achane going pro.
