Trouble in Paradise?

Am I the only one disturbed by the Mike Elko photos from the Blackjack table? Damn it we need to let people be people, even if they are famous. Everybody, unless they are in a combat situation, should be able to enjoy some unmolested leisure.

He's a "whale", making nearly $10 million a year, which means the casino could/should have him at a private table away from the "commoners". He's a dumbass for not availing himself of the amenities offered him for free.

He’s a public figure as are all D1 coaches, so there is a paparazzi that goes along with being out in the public eye. You represent your school, the coaches, the players, the “program”, so it goes with the territory (and $5M+ a year salary). Sark, Day, Lanning, Franklin, Dillingham, etc - all have to deal with it.

And - you NEVER pass up an opportunity to kick aggy in the nuts.

Just because you have money doesn't mean you want to be playing $500 a hand. They aren't going to give him a private setting for quarters or even black chips.
 
Never wanted to be there, just like no female dealers and no Asian dealers.

There used to be a dealer at the Frontier named Fred. If Fred came to our table, I gave him one deal, two hands (one for him). If I lost, I was gone. NEVER won a hand with Fred dealing

Then he shouldn’t be playing. If Elko is claiming he is building a program at aggy, why play cheap? Inconsistent with what he is being paid to do. Subconsciously the aggy fan has to wonder what else he is being cheap on (or holding back). This is a perception issue. Should the head coach be seen with a cheap drink playing penny ante? If Elko wants that option, he should be coaching at Duke or New Mexico St.
 
My issue is why should anybody with a modicum of fame have to answer to mchammer or any other stranger about a round of blackjack. The saddest scene in a movie I watched recently had Bob Dylan show up at a club to watch a friend perform, get recognized and it ruined the evening. Maybe I should have been a Canadian.

I saw the Elko picture not long after the game was over. The picture was taken before the game which is not a good look or immediately after. I don't think that's a good look either IMO. You're there for football. Support your team. With the money he's making he can go gamble at any other time he wants. And yes...I don't know facts but it's my perception.

Elko is a poor man's Red Neck millionaire.

He is an example of dumb *** aggy. No self or situational awareness. He probably had no idea or didnt care he was a "Whale"and would have gotten comp'd on room, food and booze.

No, he dresses in his Walmart duds and plays Blackjack at $2 or $5 tables, while drinking wine spritzers and offering small talk to the common folk at his table.

That was my take also. If he went gambling after the game, no problem. He deserves some R&R. It been a long season with long hours. Good for him.
If it was before the game? No bueno, muy malo! Bad, bad look all the way around.

If he needed some relaxing time, he should be sleeping or hitting the gym.

I found out by wandering over to texags that Reserve National Champion means they got second place. I guess they can get a trophy for first place loser???
