Tom Herman is Mack Brown on steroids.

By, cam
And then lost him and still went 9-3 in the regular season.

So? Of course it stings less when the stakes are lower. Had we been 11-0 going into the game, this one might have stung worse (final game of the season, at home, blowing a 10 point lead late). And let's not even try to compare 2008 Texas Tech - one of the top 5 teams in the nation with Crabtree at 100% - with 2017 Texas Tech. Only one other in his time as head coach at Tech has Kingbury allowed 23 points or less to a Big 12 team besides Kansas.

I think that's less true now than it used to be, with newer styles of offense and all the pro-offense rules changes. Really it's been true for a long time though that college has relatively been more about the coach and the pros have been relatively more about the quarterback (although narrowing it down to just either of them is a gross oversimplification).

No national titles: Peyton Manning, Colt McCoy, Sam Bradford, Marcus Mariota, Jason White, Robert Griffin, Andrew Luck
National titles: Tee Martin, Craig Krenzel, Greg McElroy, Chris Leak, Jake Coker[/QUOTE by,

Every qb you listed had what in common? Correct.....they did NOT turn the ball over. Back to the 2000's.......Vince young and cam Newton were pretty good too. I see you left them off. Also, from watching the Texans earlier this year Deshaun Watson from Clemson looked pretty good too.

As far as your comments on the Texas tech loss this year......of course the stakes were lower. We are 6-6. If y'all want to keep blaming Tom for what he inherited this year........drive on! Hard to make chicken salad out of chicken ****. It amazes me that everyone on here hating on uncle tom forgets the players he recruited at Ohio state from the state of Texas. He won a conference championship and a natty with a 3rd string qb. He recruited and coached them.

I loved mack.....but If It were not for by he would have won 1 conference title a zero national titles in 16 years. Tom is in his 1st year. Calm down. Sure looked like to me that mack sure wanted tom here at the presser when he was hired!!!!

However, this is toms first year. Let next year play out and see if you feel the same. I have no doubt about what I'm saying. We will NOT be 5-7 or 6-6 next year!!!! At worst 9-3.
He cannot handle HC so the answer is adding to his duties? His on field moves and time management are junior high schoolish.

Are we talking foolish? Hiring strong was foolish. Did you forget that he was 13-1 at cougar high and drummed fsu in bowl? Also, won a NC with a third string qb at Ohio state. So, basically you are saying our mensa member head coach is dumb and can't do both. I'm not really sure who you haters are comparing tom to? Is it mack? Without vy he wins 1 conference title and zero nattys in 16 years. In football your 11 has to be better than theirs in many aspects not just talent. Thanks to macks end and chucks three years we are not there......yet.

I sit on emails or posts before hitting send. Usually 10 minutes but sometimes a lot longer. It helps me think if I really want to say that or not. Just a suggestion.

PJ Granger was a great coach and great man, whose goal was to teach youngsters football, played with class, dignity, and as he would yell from the sideline, "It doesn't matter if they know the play, do your job and we'll score".

On behalf of Coach Granger, I strenuously protest your post as defamatory to quality junior high coaches everywhere.

I find its also not necessary to respond to every* single post on the thread.

People will respect your opinions more if you just put them out there. The more validity your opinion has, the more discussion there will be. You don't have to suck the oxygen out of the room by singlehandedly trying to keep a thread going.

People are entitled to their opinions and you are entitled to yours. Even if you're 100% right, you might not change anyone's mind and that is OK. Its not necessary to refute every single contrary opinion ad nauseam.

You answered the question yourself - Texas is in a different environment than Cougar High. When you lose to SMU and Navy something is wrong and leads to losing to Maryland and Texas Tech on the bigger stage.
