Todd Dodge cautions Texas about starting QB Quinn Ewers too soon

For all the controversy and media attention he has gotten it is great to see him just being a kid.
A Longhorn kid.
Waiting for someone to tell me who or what qdafool is.
Is he related to 50Cent?

All right...
I dont think you'll like it but you asked for it..
..oK..maybe you didnt but you are getting it anyway...

In the interest of being non judgemental I was trying to understand the words.
Apparently ALL rap songs have to reference drugs, money from drugs guns and shooting
And if course the n word used as many times as possuble

As opposed to:
  • "Purple haze all in my brain"
  • "Last dance with Mary Jane"
  • "If you want to hang out, you've gotta take her out, cocaine"
  • "I shot a man in Reno just to watch him die"
  • "Just killed a man, put a gun against his head, pulled my trigger, now he's dead"
Get off your high horse.

This thread took an unfortunate turn because arguably our best QB commit in 20 years quoted offensive rap lyrics.

Tell me you like to alienate 18-year-olds without telling me you like to alienate 18-year-olds.

Who cares? Are they reading this thread? If so, maybe that's why Texas sucks. Get to practice and off Horn Fans.

No "White Rabbit"? Grace wrote the greatest "drug song" of the generation.

Ajo
Maybe you can give examples of rap songs that don't list any of the elements I listed above.
From my "high horse" I couldn't find any but I could find millions and millions of pop songs that don't mention drugs or guns or denigrate women.

If Card is starting, our OL had better improve by leaps and bounds over last year. Card's got a good arm, but he really needs time to throw.

And she also helped give us the worst song of all time, "We Built This City"
I think Jefferson Starship set all of humanity back musically speaking with that one.

This was a really funny article I read not too long ago, interviewing the players involved. Most all of them were pretty embarrassed to have let it happen.

We Built This S#!tty: An Oral History of the Worst Song of All Time

Grace Slick(Starship vocalist; ‘Vanity Fair,’ June 2012): I was such an ******* for a while, I was trying to make up for it by being sober, which I was all during the '80s, which is a bizarre decade to be sober in. So I was trying to make it up to the band by being a good girl. Here, we're going to sing this song, “We Built This City on Rock & Roll.” Oh, you're shitting me, that's the worst song ever.

Back in the 80s I went out to SFO on business and took the time to go see an old friend living in Tiburon. I drove the rent car across the bridge, and when I turned on Jim's street there were an abundance of police cars and officers with guns drawn about four houses down the street. When I got into the house, I asked Jim what was going on, and he replied, "Grace is stoned again and is protecting her house from invaders with her rifle". He said it happened every couple of months.

I would, but we know what the response would be:
"Those are the exception, not the rule. The music I like is mostly good and the music I don't like is mostly bad. Everyone knows."

Can we simply agree that popular music has always been about sex and drugs? Hell, the term "rock and roll" is a euphemism for sex. So is "jazz", for that matter. This goes way back. It's nothing new.

So you admit IF you could find rap without the elements they would be exceptions.
I guess that means you couldn't find any
You would also then have to admit the songs you listed were exceptions.
And if you were being fair those were very few exceptions to millions and millions to all the other pop songs as opposed to the preponderance of rap with those elements

Now back to when Ewers might be THE QB. I hope they let him come long at his pace

Um, no. That's not even close to what I said. But continuing this conversation would be like teaching algebra to a dog. I'm done here.

What happened to Puff The Magic Dragon?

Reminds me of this photo, taken from our guest bedroom window several years ago. Let’s just say that there were some issues with one of the neighbors…
