Norway is far from paradise:

1) Individuals in Norway have crushing household debt. The Risks of Rising Household Debt in Norway

2) The average household net-adjusted disposable income per capita is $44,049 a year in the States. Norway is at 35,739. OECD Better Life Index

3) One ****** climate :p

Btw, it's kind of hard to compare Norway, who has a population of only 5 million, to other nations. If you want to compare Norway to some of the more prosperous states in the US, it gets absolutely buried.

It isn't a paradise, and it isn't socialist. I'm surprised that people on the Right allow democratic socialists to hold out countries like Norway and Denmark as socialist, when they clearly are not. They follow the Nordic Model. They are social democracies, not democratic socialist states. There's a big difference.

The double standards the media deploys in framing stories is really astounding. If a story favors a Left wing narrative, it is almost always framed as true to a strong degree of certainty. If it cuts against a Left wing narrative, it is framed with verbiage that suggests doubt about its accuracy.
 
What I find really remarkable is commentators like this - people who wish the story was true. Think about this. This guy is wishing that a gay black dude actually was beaten up and are sad that he wasn't. Shouldn't the normal human response to this story be one of relief? It's a shame and disgusting that he lied, but isn't it a good thing that he wasn't beaten?

The left has decided they can keep control of this by saying Jussie must be mentally ill and are calling for him to get the help he needs.

You forgot about the bleach and rope around his neck. It’s just unbelieve someone would make a claim like that. This has happened a lot where something is fake and the media jumps on it and runs with it. Al sharpton had the lady that claimed to be pee’d on by white people, the Duke Lacrosse team, and just recently many more. It’s happening at a higher rate now.

Scandinavian countries all became wealthy as a result of laissez faire economics in the late 19th century to mid 20th century. They had some of the free-est economies for decades. Then they decided to add large social welfare programs on top of that. I don't think the economies themselves were ever made less free other than the taxed to pay for the welfare services.

In the last 20 years, their economies have suffered greatly from the huge financial burden of the welfare services. In the last decade they have started the process of reducing that financial burden. Overall, their economies are roughly as free as the US with social program spending on the process of decrease.

Leftist US politicians like to use the example of 1990 style Scandinavia while ignoring that they are drastically different today.

The reason that "why" matter is that it can help address a level of hatred so deep, a craving for victinization so desperate, and a willingness to believe the most horrible things about your fellow Americans that should make all of us - including the media - step back and ask whether we've gone too far and need to check ourselves.
