Thank You on behalf of my teammates

I jsut wanted to say this is by far the best thread ever on this board. CC, you are truly a badass. Good luck in all that you do.

Chris,
ditto to all of the above!
I was so happy for you when you were in the lineup for the CWS Championship game! Then you hit that HR, and I was happy for you all over again! You are an outstanding young man!
Thanks for the memories and the entertainment of great college baseball!

Chris, hopefully, this thread isn't getting too old for you

As Enlightened said, I too thought your triple against Crain was amazing... but obviously the homer in Omaha was the play of the game and much more meaningful.

I remember Augie getting you an at bat earler in the CWS and I remembered the Houston game thinking that Augie was slowly leaning toward you as an impact player in that lineup...

sure enough, when you were anounced as the starter, I turned to my wife and yelled, that dude is going to be a difference maker today!!! Thanks for helping me show my wife that I actually know something!!!

Congrats, this sort of accomplishment will never fade...

Good Luck and Welcome to the Hall of Texas Baseball Lore... YOU belong!

God you guys were fun to watch this year! Ditto to ALL the above!

Next time a Blue Norther rolls thru down there, listen for "Eyes", "Texas Fight" and cheering on that first gust of wind. That'll be us up here in Nebraska screamin our heads off for you and every class individual in our Longhorn family.

Look us up if you're ever in the Omaha area. All our best for you and the whole Longhorn family!

Your HR will be a moment I never forget, kind of like "Street to Peschel" in football (yeah, Huston's dad!).

Thanks for the championship season; thanks for the post. Class act, indeed.

Thanks CC for a classy post and a National Championship.

It's always nice to see the tower lit up!

Chris,

That moment in your life is something that we all used to pretend when we were growing up. For a brief moment, I was there with you, playing ball back at home in the sandlot, hitting that memorable homerun.

You guys represented The Univeristy in a manner that has made the entire city of Austin and the state of Texas very proud....not to mention every Hornfan around the globe.

I am still on Cloud 9 from watching the National Championship game. I can't imagine the emotional high that you feel looking back at that moment.

Good luck to you and each of member of this special team in all of your future endeavors.

Thanks for the memories, and
HOOK 'EM

Chris, thanks for the thrill I got watching your homer leave the stadium.

Best of luck in the future.

LHG - you are going to put this in the classics, aren't you?

Thanks to Mr. Carmichael as well as each of the other members of the 2002 Texas Longhorn baseball team for all they've done for the University, and the best of luck to all of them in the future.

Thank you, Chris Carmichael!!!!!!!!!!!

You have put yourself in the legend catagory. And it's something you can be proud of the rest of your life because every Orangeblood is proud of you!!

Way to stay with that curve ball Chris! That thing had a good break and I freaked when you dug it out.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Also, you cracked me up at the press conference when you said "I have two" greatest moments.

What memories. Did I say thank you?

WOW.. not sure when this thread will ever end... Chris, what a classy post from such a classy guy. I was disappointed you didn't get as much playing time this year as you have in years passed, but baseball is a team sport, and you took everything in stride and converted when Augie asked. This national championship was to me like alot of the other posters my first National Championship in the Big 3, and will remember this one for the rest of my life.. I will never forget driving down on campus to take pictures of the beautiful tower that Saturday night, even though it was at 4:00 am... Little surprise that we found 20 or so other people "playing" in the fountain celebrating as well.

Chris,

Thanks for the great memories of this year. I still remember watching the 83 team win their championship. However, this year's team showed courage than any team I've ever seen play for us.

You guys deserved the win.

CC,

I appreciate the fact that you understand how much UT athletics means to some of us idiots out here. The night ya'll won the Big 12 title game one of my Uncles had his first grandson born at St. David's Hospital in Austin. He sent the entire family an e-mail describing the Tower in all it's glory as he got to know his Grandson. From then on we had a feeling you boys would finish the job. In short Chris, you and the rest of the team created memories for people that will NEVER be forgotten. Thanks.

My Lord, Chris, your teammates and especially you, have made me proud to be a Longhorn fan.

I wish I could reproduce your attitude in the form of some kind of salve or balm and then rub it on every Longhorn athlete and fan.

Thank you so very much for choosing to be a Longhorn.

Chris,

The heart of this entire team was incredible. Your climb through the season, through the Big 12 tournament, through the playoffs, to the National Championship was inspiring.

Congratulations!

When you get your ring, if you can take a picture with it on, share it with us. Please.

Wow, holy smoke!!!!! How did I JUST NOW stumble onto this thread? I read this board everyday, almost every hour (while at work of course).

Chris, thanks a whole heckuva lot for your hard work, determination, character, and your home run

Seriously, seeing you round 1st, realizing the ball cleared the wall and seeing you pump your arms could not have made me any happier. I was sitting 7 rows behind home plate at the time and seeing you touch home to be greeted by all the 2002 CWS University of Texas Longhorn baseball team is one memory I will NEVER EVER EVER forget. Seriously, if by now you haven't realized how you've touched sooooooooo many of us loony UT-diehards, you should!

I got to speak to you very briefly after the game, and as I anticipated and by your post today, you were clearly a very humble, happy Horn. Like you, Chris, I find myself in disbelief about the whole season as well. However, I just pop in the CWS Champ game to slap me across the face.

You are a very fortunate young man. Often times, people work very hard and get discouraged and quit or slack off over time. YOUR efforts proved to any fan of any age that hard work and determination DOES pay off.

Keep in touch and good luck.

One happy horn here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for helping us have a great season. As you can see, your Champ Game home-run will remain the talk among us for years and years. There's groups among the UT fans tha remember '83 homeruns and '79 steals-of-home.

We may not agree on any coach's apparent genius for starting or pulling players, but you DID crank that one outta the yard! That was genius enough for us.

I ought to get Admin to post a link to your HR's MP3 file! That way, we could play it over and over! ha ha

Watched the game up here in Maine, just me and the TV. That one swing of the bat stands out the most. ('Memorable' would be an understatement.)

I love UT baseball.

From an old alum to a young one: congratulations, and...

Hook 'em.

Chris,
Thank you for the memories. The HR is something that will not be forgotten.

Best of luck in all that you do.

HOOK'EM HORNS!

Chris,

you and your teammates are a true inspiration to all Longhorn fans - past, present and future - and this year is a blueprint for all future Longhorn teams to use in their quest to be national champions.

from now on, so many young boys will play the game and play this scenario in their heads: "national championship game... close ballgame.. my last year of college baseball... the swing..... the crack... YES!!!... it's up... GONE!!! I'M CHRIS CARMICHAEL!!!!" You are a true hero to all future generations of young ballplayers who will no doubt aspire to be Longhorn players like you some day, burnt orange gods willing.

I can only hope my son will grow up to have the heart of a champion like you... I do know he will grow up re-living THE HOME RUN for years to come right along with me. Thanks for writing an indellible moment in the annals of Longhorn sports history that will be remembered forever by burnt orange faithful.

you and your teammates are now officially legendary! Get used to it!

Hookem National Champion Horns!!! 2002: 1 down - 2 to go.

Chris, I haven't made many posts on this site, but I have to respond to yours. What a wonderful and thoughtful thing for you to do. You obviously know how much we fans care about you and the incredible group of young men who constitute the 2002 National Champion Texas Longhorns! I am one of the many diehards who are there in the cold and the heat because we love our Horns, and you all certainly made it all worthwhile this year! I know the feeling you described...the disbelief! At the end of the regular season, we declared "I can't believe we're the Big 12 Champs!" In Arlington, we went through "I can't believe we're in the finals" to "I can't believe we won the tournament!" Through the Regionals and SuperRegionals, we kept up the "I can't believe..." And game by game in Omaha, you made us believe, but it still seemed so impossibly wonderful. I will forever be glad that we made the decision to go to Omaha for the entire series! We were able to see what true class you all had. What wonderful memories!!! But Chris, since the final game, when you ask anyone in our group of friends for their favorite play of the series, it is your homerun...not just because of the play but because of the player. You have demonstrated everything that a Longhorn athlete should be. I can pay you no higher compliment! I hope you will physically remain a part of the Longhorn family; you are already a spiritual part.

CC, thank you for the post, and a huge THANK YOU for providing me one of the greatest memories of being a Hornfan. I'll never forget jumping up and down on the first base side of Rosenblatt with my brother & 2 other Longhorns friends as we saw your HR, and the celebration that followed. It is a moment I'll always cherish. You'll always be a champion. Best of luck in everything you do. Hook 'em!!
