Thank You on behalf of my teammates

Chris,
Thanks for all your hard work and dedication. It was inspirational how you kept your chin up, and worked just has hard as the regular starters, just waiting for any chance to contribute to the team. Then you get your chance and BOOM you come through like a real champion. The spirit of Johnny Sutton was alive in your performance in the clutch. I am very thankful I was there in Omaha when you smoked the HR.
Thanks for taking the time to post your thoughts. We will never forget you and good luck with your future plans.

Chris,
Awesome first post. Thanks for taking time to share those thoughts with us. We all thank you, and wish you the best.

Not that it matters, but I "called" your home run. Sometimes I just get a feeling. And even though some of the games were close, I never doubted for a minute that the Longhorns were going to win it all once they got to the World Series.

I am still hunting down every aggie I know (and sadly I know a lot of them!) to say "How about those Longhorns!" I know it kills them 'cause they can't say anything back, and I thank you and the whole team for making it possible for me to brag big time.

Best of luck to you!

Chris -- I don't think you realize what an impact you had on so many fans.
This is the first National Championship in my lifetime (that I am old enough to recognize) in a big 3 sport at Texas.
I will ALWAYS remember your homerun. During that at bat (I was watching the game with my 3 year old nephew) my nephew told me 'watch this guy Uncle Kiss (his pronunciation of Chris), they said his name is Kiss too.'
As soon as he finished saying that, you connected. I was yelling and screaming and jumping, and my nephew (whom I am raising as Orange as can be, and whom mimmicks my every move) started yelling and screaming and jumping also.
Believe me, that story will be told in my family for decades. I will tell my grandchildren about it, and that, my friend, is a LEGACY.

Congratulations and God Bless You!

PS -- I would like to hear the story on how you got your ball back. That ball has to be as priceless as a personal item can get.

GodSpeed, Chris.

Congrats CC this post shows why this team won the series. Classy team players like you are what brought home this championship. I am looking forward to watching future teams continue the legacy that this team rekindled.

One of the beatiful things about baseball is that it is simultaneously a team sport as well as an individual sport.

This 2002 National Champion baseball team renewed Texas' name among the elite of National Champions. It has been a long time coming for us all. And so all of us fans warmly thank you, all the guys, Coach Garrido, and staff, for your collective outstanding championship efforts.

But when the dust finally settles out down the road, and when the South Carolina game is fondly reminesced upon years from now, the individual effort that will be remembered above all will be that of Chris Carmichael and his clutch 3 run game winning blast to right. And so the name of Chris Carmichael has forever entered into the realm of Longhorn lore.

Ah, sweet Georgia . . . . They gave us a real peach this time.

Wow, like all those before me, that post was awesome!!!! If you look in Webster's Dictionary for the definition of "team player" you'll find your name.

I have listened several times to the post championship newsconference on the NCAA National Championship website and have enjoyed your comments, they have made me laugh and cry at the same time. Huston Street telling the reporters "oh, he's just happy to be here" was a classic. I know you were there, but if you haven't had a chance to listen do so!

Good luck to you in the future and like Augie said, these memories will never be able to be taken away and will be with you for a lifetime!

HausFrau: the word is "allsome." Truly allsome.

I concur with everything said above.

Augie had a hunch that is was CC's day, and lo and behold, CC made the big swing and made Augie look like a genius. Congrats to you and the team.

Chris,

Your "bomb" couldn't have happened to a better guy! It just shows us how prepared you were and how focused you remained. You definitely capitalized on the moment!....Way to go!

Good luck on your future in whatever you do. Thank you representing our great university with such class and for sharing your thoughts with us!

Chris, congrats on a great season. Your home run will be remembered for years and years. These memories are what make baseball so special, and I am glad you had a chance to make your dreams come true.

Wow. We sound like a broken record here, but that's so cool of you, Chris, to come on Hornfans and post your feelings about the championship. I'll never forget your homerun!

You are a true team player, and I'm so proud that you are a Longhorn. Congratulations on all your accomplishments and best wishes for a great future. Hook 'Em!

Thanks for all your hard work, dedication and team-first attitude. Like Steg, this is my first National Title in a Big 3 sport that I'm old enough to remember. It is truly special and will be remembered.

Also Chris, take a bow, because your home run will now be replayed among the classic moments in CWS history. When you see the highlight videos of guys that were money in the clutch during the CWS --- Doug Hodo, Greg Ellena, Warren Morris, Pete Incaviglia --- your name will be there, too.

Good luck in all that you do!

Chris,
Congratulations on such a fine season. I would like to "second" all of the replies
above in what the whole playoff and CWS games meant to me as a long time UT fan.

If you look at the season stats, the HR in your last game was not that surprising. Although
you did not have that many AB, you were second this season in OB% (behind Dustin) and 4th
in SLG% (behind Dustin, Jeff, JD).

I listened over and over to what Coach Garrido said about you in the post game conference
after the NC game. It was very touching for me to hear about the kind of spirit and determination
that you symbolized in this year's championship team. I have monitored your growth, even
starting before this year, and it is very heart-warming to know that you finally got a chance
to show what kind of ball player and what you really meant to this year's special kind of team.

I particularly enjoyed your brother's comments about how you "went deep". Just like
you and your bracelet, I always carry a coin with a special stamp on it in my pocket
to remind me every day about what is really important. Continue to keep on
"PUSHing" and I hope that what ever the SH that happens for you will be to your
liking in the future. You will be a continual memory and an inspiration to me about
the religion that people need to maintain in their lives.

Bleeding burnt orange until I die. Thanks for the post, Chris. And thanks for the memories, including the national championship! God Bless.

Yeah, yeah ... the home run was wonderful, blah blah blah.

Personally, I liked the triple against Houston that ended Crain's scoreless season better

This truly is a wonderful first post ... or second or 10,000th, for that matter. Thanks for reminding us all what great kids there are inside those uniforms. Best of luck in whatever life holds in store.

Chris,
This was a year for all to remember. The team was exactly that. Augie did a superb job and the players brought the championship home. You reminded me of the Yankees and since quite of few of you were drafted by the Yankees maybe they saw the same. Best of all was your home run in the final game. On true teams you never know who will be the star, on that day it was you Chris! Congratulations and best of luck down the road.

Dear Hornfans,

On behalf of my teammates, I would just like to say "Thank You" for your dedication to this team all season long and even now as we await a new year of Longhorn baseball. You as fans are really helping this National Championship sink in for me more than anything, with different posts on what this championship means to you and I really appreciate it. I still have dreams about the game and in some of them we have not won yet so I wake up telling myself that this can't be true because we won the national championship. This usually leads to me looking at my homerun ball and my NCAA National Champion hat with a smile on my face. I know my teammates feel the same as I do about our fans as they are all doing so well right now. I wish all of them the best of luck in all of their future endeavors and wanted to say that I could not share this with a better group of guys. By the way since you will all be rich you have no excuse not to call me. "They'll get me for this". I check out this site often because you all have a love for UT baseball that makes a Georgia boy like me prouder to be a Longhorn. Your support for our team on a daily basis deserves national recognition and this championship justifies that UT is the best and our fans are also #1. This year has been very special for us all and I know that it will provide the foundation for continued success. "I'll pass some of my luck on that statement". It was an honor to play ball and graduate from this 1st class university and I'm just proud to be apart of the Longhorn Family and share this with all of you. Again Thank You for all of your support and Hook'Em for years to come.

Sincerely,

Chris Carmichael

Chris,

I was behind the 3rd base dugout at the championship game. I have told many people that the look of utter joy on your face returning to the dugout after your home run was my most memorable moment of the CWS and was a classic example of why the college game is the best for the pure love of the game.

You are obviously a classy and intelligent individual that will do well in all of life's endeavors. We are as proud to have you in the Longhorn family as you are to be in it. Congratulations on your degree and your championship season!

Chris, on behalf of the legacy of UT baseball you and your teammates brought back to Austin a memory we can all cherish forever. You all played with your hearts and souls all year long, and never gave in to any negative reporting from anyone and anywhere. Its interesting that the team as a whole was the most incredible group of young men that I have ever been priviledged to know . Each one of you guys started playing baseball ,probably around T-ball age,and every fan, parent and onlooker probably has no idea how very hard each one of you has worked to get to this place in your lives. This was destiny at its greatest form. The greatest group of young men ever, winning the CWS together and forever sharing these memories, together or apart, you will always be the TEAM that won . Thanks for the memories, and please keep in touch with us, as it is a priviledge to have known you and what a fine gentleman you are. Good Luck in the future, and may those rings always be a great source of pride for you, you deserve it. Thanks again.

Thanks Chris for the post and the great year in BB. Your post and " HOMERUN" shows what a great TEAM ya'll are!
Thanks again and HOOKEM HORNS!!!!!!!

Chris...God Bless you and thank you for taking the time to speak with us....You have no idea how proud I was of ya when you touched home...not only because of the HR...but because of who you are....believe me...you are looked up to...and just keep on doing what you're doing....You are an inspiration to many people you dont know...and you have touched some lives that you will never know....

thanks for the memories

Chris:

As you can see from the above, not only your home run and the Longhorn CWS Title mean alot to us fans, but your class and great representation of the University do also (as much or more). Congrats on the Championship and on graduating from the University!

You and your teammates have achieved a little bit of immortality with this incredible season. Enjoy it! (I know that I did and will, thanks.) I wish you and the rest of the team the very best in all of your future endeavors.

Hook'em until you can't anymore!!!!!!!

Chris "the Bomb" Carmichael....catchy name. Congrats on the degree and the NC.....both are great accomplishments for a great guy. We are all proud of you ,Chris. Your sister is a classy lady, too.l

CC--When you hit that tater in Omaha, I and about 30 other horns went ape sh.t at SRO sportsbar in houston. There were a few non-horns in the place who startled at the uproar so new rounds had to be ordered for all.
I will never forget it. Thank you.

Thank you Chris and all of your teammates for giving us such a great reason to cheer. None of us will ever forget this season or any player on this year's team. I admire the way you all picked each other up and made sure that every win and every lose was the whole team's. You not only showed us what a great baseball team is like, but also what a great group of people can do if each person is willing to work for the others. Thank you for your example and all of your hard work.

Chris, You and your team brought so much fun and joy to my family this year. Thanks for being so great! It was awesome to hear all the accolades by the national media. What a nice letter also - it's always great to hear what outstanding young men (and women) are part of Longhorn Athletic teams. Good Luck to you and thanks for being a great role model!
