Texas vs WVU-round two

What a painful game to watch. Friends and I have concluded that this team simply is not a team. They don't seem to like each other on the court nor do they pay attention to well, much of anything happening there. If we had a point for every no-touch shot Joyner has clanged off the rim, we'd have a few more wins. Or, for every casual pass to no one ... they seem to each play in a separate world. Been a fan since the '80s, and this team has the look of the final Jody teams and final Gail teams - D-I level players without cohesion or purpose. (Tynice Martin looked dis-interested, too - thinking about the draft, perhaps.) This can happen to any program or coach. Look at the records of top coaches - only Pat and Geno have been dominant since Title IX and they both had down years, for them, between runs. Andy Landers is in the HoF, his teams went to the Final Four 4-5 times, but never won. Tenn was in the F4 6-7 times before winning. Texas won a kazillion SWC games, but only 1 NC. Sports are cyclical, but I sure hate it when MY team is spiraling down. (Needed to vent, thanks. :hookem:)
Right up there with her rim-clangers, I'm so tired of Joyner dribbling 2 on 1 and NEVER passing the ball, just barreling to the rim for either a miss or a charge...

No 5 problem to fix hire an offensive coach. Call shea Ralph.
I get the feeling that KA doesn't listen to her asistants... Furthermore as long as you're jerking people in and out constantly it disrupts/prevents continuity regardless of the offense you run. It's also very taxing on the players from a mental aspect.

One of the strategies that teams are taking on the Horns now is to deny the ball reversal pass. Ball reversal is a common and exceptionally effective strategy. Aston preaches it and we sporadically do it well. WV denied ALL the passes from the dribbler but really hurt on us wanting to change sides of the court. When that happens, one of the best strategies is to beat the defensive player off the dribble and force the opposing denying players to help on the drive. This opens up options to make plays. Unfortunately, other than Sutton we don't have the players to simply win off the dribble. Higgs would have eaten that defensive strategy alive. Hopefully with her back next year...…...and Taylor seeming to be able to drive as well...……..but wait...…….that is NEXT YEAR again. Teams will continue to play deny defense until we figure out how to minimize it.
