TEXAS VS WASHINGTON- GAME THREAD

We probably didn’t deserve to be in a position to win the game with 15 seconds left, but we were. I agree though that the playcalling was not good. Sark seems to have frozen. With four tries from the 15, you probably should score a touchdown. I will also agree that the officials really screwed us all night. That and our poor pass defense leaves me a bit hollow.

Great season.

Could have been…

From that picture also kept Mitchell from getting any elevation. But the no call was consistent with the way the game was called.

That was a bang bang football play. None of the guys on LHN are complaing about it and Mitchell didn't make a fuss after.
I'm guessing if a flag is thrown there we would be hearing how it wasn't pass interferance.
Oh well great season in any case.

Gotta like that story the announcers told about UW’s OC. He was unemployed from coaching (pouring concrete for a living) and living in his sister’s laundry room when DeBoer gave him the call for some entry level coaching position.
I would have liked to have beaten a team with an OC who is an unemployed basement laundry-room couch surfer. Just sayin’

Please help me. I need a sanity check. I was at the game and maybe I didn’t quite see it right. Did we have four shots at the end zone from like the 12 yd line and got nothing? Not a single yard?

it was a miracle to even be in that position, but 4 chances from inside the 15 and you really don't even throw 1 pass into the actual endzone. I cry.

Sark: "No Quinn, I said--- "Remember our NEW GUIDELINES", not "Throw it to BLUE on the SIDELINES..."

:beertoast:

I would have rather ewers throw the ball low and hard with Mitchell coming back

Ewers can't throw "hard" though. Uw DBs were playing face to the qb in the end zone knowing full well they could break on anything ewers chucked out there. Well scouted, well coached. Soft tosses weren't going to beat them

course he can throw it hard.
Or at least faster than normal.

That’s was makes this impossible to accept. This game was gift wrapped for us: the late stop, the Washington injury on 3rd down, thr kick catch interference, the long pass the Jwhitt, the over the shoulder to Blue. Four shots at the end zone from the 12. Man that’s like some 7on7 s/*$! That’s should be automatic.

Some may not agree on that last play but the defensive player was playing the ball, it was a clean play and shouldn't have been called PI and will likely never get called.

Our team was amazingly in position to pull this game off with time running out even though Washington outplayed us for 59 minutes. It was frustrating to watch though, I was getting frustrated at the secondary but honestly Penix threw the balls in the perfect spot and the corner was in perfect position on all of the long pass plays.

The whole thing hinges on getting to Penix and we didn't, can't give him time to throw, less than 3 seconds should be the max.

Michigan has a better pass rush to the QB, so I expect they will have better luck forcing Penix to throw off schedule and will be an interesting game to watch to see if they can get to him. If so, Michigan wins.

that throw was coming in too slow! gave the db time to adjust and make a play. if it came in fast and low the db could do nothing. I have had experience with this. actual stinking experience in a setting a thousand times less important. But it's still the same play.
oki am a little pissed off still.
think I will watch a western.

Yes we knew that about Penix. At least two of his passes tonight were the best I’ve seen all season in CFB. What was disappointing defensively was giving up all of the rushing yards. So we knew he would get passing yards. And we were still in position to steal it at the end. So bitterly disappointing.

With 20 seconds left, I would have liked a pass to jwhitt at the 7 yard line in middle of the field. There is enough time to spike the ball for one more play, but the ball would be at the 1-5 yard line which is a much higher percentage play than the 13 yard line.

it was interference nonetheless.
we should had one more play on the one yard line
NFL rule is one yard line, NCAA rule is two yard line (I think). Otherwise damn right! Most plays are "bang bang;" that doesn't excuse the no-call. It does, however, make it likely that it was just a blown call, not intentional ref nudging.

One interesting outcome is Maning just got a big boost. I predict thinking in Sarks camp now is Ewers may be good but he’s not ‘take us to the promise land’ good. just my two cents even though I do not put this game on his shoulders entirely by any means, I’m just saying a few more good plays could have done it.

Agreed I’ve always thought that. Dude has below average arm strength.
