Texas vs. TCU game thread

Good win. Some people on this board seem to think we're a powerhouse program and should be mud stomping every one we see. Guess what. We ain't.

This was a game that we lose with our last 3 coaches. Our offense is fine. (The OL still a worry) The defense usually takes longer to get right so hopefully by the end of the year it will be where it needs to be.

On to blow u. They seem more beatable than last year. I think the blow u game goes a lot to determining what this team's makeup is.

Pouring myself another Johnnie Walker and enjoying my horns winning and the rest of the evening.

Sark out coached Patterson. Simple. Bijon was unbelievable. Officiating was awful. O line is better. D line is thin, talking heads were pure dummies.

Worst comment "maybe Bijon will be included in the Heisman conversation in the future". Losers.

CT needs to be the starter as long as we have this offensive line. Need the mobility for sure. Hudson is a solid backup and can come in and run the offense, but if the line can't hold, he can't run for his life as well as CT....

I believe that as weird as the game was, we would have lost it with previous coaches. The team managed to work through everything and end up with a win. I'll take that.

CT's background is going to make him very hungry in this game!

@TheWalkingHorn

Where have you been? Longhorn Catholic told me you have mostly been over posting on TexAgs!

I defended you and said no, you were probably busy WALKING, life stuff and shopping for UT gear on the Internet!

I have not and cannot fully express my supreme gratification with the Horn win today.

Besides all the normal joy as a LONG time fan, I don't have listen to a bunch of FW friends, TCU grads and co-workers ragging me the Horns lost the DAMN game vs. the frogs, again!

I want to repeat this effort and vicktree next week vs. those ou cocksuckers!

Wonder what the response here would have been if Texas kicked the FG, and then TCU tied the game.

Something like “you have the best RB in college football on 4th and goal and you don’t go for it?”

Right call, just great play by TCU for the stop.
But we did go for it and got stuffed.
At least this point we know they would have to go for two. Plus we would not have to worry about losing the game in regulation.
So its pick what you feel comfortable with.

Lies! I've got better things to do with my time than go to TexAgs... like shopping for UT gear on the internet! :e-face-tears:

School has started again, so the teacher life is full steam currently.

Right play was to kick pure and simple. You go up 15 at that point. Your odds of winning are really high. Plus you don't give them any huge momentum swing. I get so tired of these coaches just not taking the play right in front of them. That was a classic Herman play and most of the time it's bit us on the butt.

You know last week Thompson was practically moonshotting his throws. Today though he was throwing darts. I wonder if one of the coaches or maybe Sark himself wanted him to flatten out his throws but I think it makes him worse I would rather see the Texas Tech Thompson throw moonshot throws. I think he's more comfortable with that. the harder you throw the ball the harder it is to catch and I've seen many quarterbacks just plain throw the ball too hard and it goes a lot of times it goes right through the receiver's hands I'd rather see us a softer more catchable throw

A lot of frustration today. HORRIBLE refs IMO. So many costly penalties. Okafor and Thompson were out. Brockermier played hurt. CT was mostly off passing today. Worthy dropped some passes he should have caught, etc.

BUT, many Horns stepped up and made key plays at key times today to get the W.

I will likely overlook someone. Off the top of my pointed head:

1. BIJIAN F ROBINSON - A BEAST ALL DAY. ALL DAY HE GOT IT DONE. He probably won the game today for the Horns.

2. Anthony Cook sack & fumble recovery converted to points.

3. Whitt long difficult catch on a drive & a TD catch.

4. Overshown so much leadership, key fumble recovery and so many important tackles!

5. Dicker made all of his FG's.

What else did I miss?

Jamieson with KO and punt returns to the 40

I don't think its a good idea for Bijan to continue to get that many carries. When he gets tired he is more susceptible to injury though i love to see him run. So Keilan needs to get touches, either by run or pass. He is a home run hitter.
Just seems like both Thompson and Sark were off their game today. I would like to see more creativity in play calling. How about on a third and goal fourth and goal jump pass over the LBs to a tight end. Guarantee that works on the play Bijan gets stuffed. Or let roschon throw the ball from the wildcat.
Wiley has good hands he could fake a block and be open in two steps then hit him on the run.
Come on Sark be creative. How about a flea flicker, try that once. Worked in a different game today. I saw a shuttle pass today for a td.
And encourage Thompson to run a little more, but make sure he slides.
When you run these little offbeat trick plays, during the more normal staple of plays they become successful that really discourages the defense and they have to think more which will make them react more slowly

It's nice to see the team win a game in which they didn't play their best. I hope they take "lessons learned" from the TCU game - it will take a much better game to beat Zero U next week.
