Texas vs Baylor game thread

Any Band Members who refuse to play the Eyes should be summarily dismissed from the UT Band. If they want to play their flutes and tubas, they can go do so at Sam Houston State.

This game changes nothing. Any football team and coach with balls would have taken the ball down the field and scored on their first couple of possessions. Let the D pin their ears back and stomped a mud hole in bailor' a$$ and won going away 45-10. Bailor has a first time head coach and has only played only 2 games. If anything it reinforces the garbage we have at the controls.

I've been searching the home page for the link, and it is not jumping off the page. Please help me help Hornfans. I knew R & K at the very beginning of HornFans, and I owe it to Dion. Rock on, and thank you!
I just sent in a donation. I love this site. In the home page, I scrolled all the way down on my phone and the link was there.

Stupidity? It's the smart football play.
I get the concept but the — “fall before you score to run out the clock” strategy — has to be taken in context. In this case I don’t see where it makes much of a difference. If he scores it’s 34-16 with less than two minutes left. I’m not worried that Bailor can score three times... Now, if it would have been a one score game, big difference.

It seems to me that TH tends to make the wrong decision almost every time. But I will at least say that going for it instead of kicking the FG was the correct decision, in this case. The FG can get blocked.

I watched the end of UH-Navy where UH/Holgorsen won at Annapolis.
But the nice part was post-game. All the Navy players walked to the area in front of the band for their anthem. All Navy players had their hands across their hearts. Anyone with a hat on had the hat held over the heart. And all the UH players and coaches walked and stood with them, and maybe half the UH players had their hands over their hearts too.

It was quite a nice moment. I was a little jealous.
One of my daughters got a schlorship to UT,but also received appointments to all three acadamys. She graduated from the Naval Academy. If you will notice they stand after everygame on the field in front of their band after the game. They then go to the opposite side and stand for the opposing teams school song.

Feel better now? Two or three days from now this will simply be a win. And from a win comes confidence. Not for jackasses like me or you who's sole contribution to this program is making random comments on internet forums, but for the players. Do you think the guys on this team that witnessed Ossai go down with an injury but then return and continue to play at a high level weren't inspired? Within a win, it's stuff like that changes a season for teams. Will it here, I can't guarantee that. And you can't guarantee that it won't...

45-10 or 27-16, I'll take a win over a loss.

The only class act I have seen Herman do since he has been there. Old school, dont run up the score on your opponents,as you would not want them to do it to you. It has lost favor in these times but old timers understand it.

It's fools gold like 2018 was.. Go back game by game of that season. The team in 18 wasn't that much different from year 1,2,, 3 and this year to this point

Nice solid win even with the little hiccup in the fourth but Baylor really is not good so it’s hard to get particularly pumped by this win. Next week will be truth teller and right now my feeling is Okie State rolls Texas comfortably.

I dont want want to just find something to complain about but, yes, if Brewer was indeed told to fall down at that time and place and score on the field it makes very little sense....though I can see how TH would be pretty paranoid at this point and overthinking. Either way....speculation.......so..
Would do way more for the team for Charlie to run over those two defenders and crash into the endzone there most likely and very little downside risk in attempting to do so.
Overall looked like a better coached team and game. We'll learn more next week...

Every year is different. I'm just going to let this one play out, I don't have any control over it anyway. Just like I don't have any control over who the coach is. I don't support TH, but I do support the players that chose to come here to play football. Yes, even when they do stupid stuff like walking off the field before the school song is played.

A few bits of trivia:

Sam was our third leading rusher, though he, Keontay and Bijan each had 50+ yds.
Sam spread 15 completions among nine different receivers
Five members of the defense had at least five tackles. Mitchell was the leader with 12.
No fumbles
Five penalties for 50 yds. Only PF was Kerstetter.

It’s a win. As a Longhorn fan, I will bask in the joy of victory. Only one patsy left on the schedule (KU). Every other week could be a dog fight.

Good (or at least noticeably mproved):

OL play, pass rush, not many blown coverages, TE play.

Somewhat concerning:

Sam was putting a lot of mustard on the ball today and often overthrowing the receiver. I got uneasy when we started feeding Ingram the ball down near the goalline. Punting was off today.

Class act by Herman not to run up the score in that situation. With that said...
IF Texas was unbeaten and looking at a shot at the play-offs, by all means you HAVE to score because style points are HUGE when it comes to the committee selecting teams for the ESPN invitational for the national title. Back during the BCS our close wins vs OU's dominating wins was a big factor in them getting in over Texas....You have to win big especially when you play lower ranked teams.

Went to the lake at 3-3. Even after a front boated 4 bass and watched the game quickly when I got back. Lots less stress and boated a few nice fish. I'm thinking I like this approach.

FWIW not a single player moved from the center of the field until after the EYES was done.
Had a bet with the BU fan in front of us that bet half the team would leave the field.
He paid before he left.

A big win for team unity. Everbody had heard the story of Sam alone for 2 weeks.

Team win, team unity, Go Horns!
