Texas v. Rice February 18-20, 2022

Final game 2: 15-1 :bevo:

Great job Tristan Stevens—6 innings of scoreless pitching. In relief, DuPlantier looked excellent, and Gordon looked good. Stewart had a rocky start, but nothing to worry about.

Time for a sweep tomorrow.

All our pitchers I saw looked really good (didn't see top of the ninth, though.) Tempering that a bit is that the big lead probably helped them all stay relaxed, and this being their first appearance of the season probably helped them maintain focus.
The one who I thought had the most exciting stuff was Duplantier. His curve ball is nasty, reminded me of Taylor Jungmann's curve. He could be really special, looking forward to watching him.
And, um, it looks like Rice is not going to be very good this year. Plus, one weekend series is not a good basis for projection. Just remembering us last year.

For the most part, yep.
Of course, last year we were an out or two away from winning the National Championship over Mississippi State.

DuPlantier was really good before his injury, but his curveball today was freakishly nasty. I won’t say unhitable, but not many batters in college will be able to hit it when he’s throwing like that. Hope it’s a sign of what he has in store for us all year.

If the team can cut the SO’s in half, we go back to Omaha in no sweat, and likely win it all.

They look damn good, but let's not get too excited yet. Rice gave up a whole lot of gifts. Walk, errors, passed balls. All those will kill you real quick and we won't get it from the best teams.

Today will be a great test for Witt. We’ll see if he can go a solid 6-7 innings. I bet he does just fine. He was smokin’ last year in relief.

Witt’s throwing up to 96 mph.

Yikes! That wind carried the ball out of the park. 1-0 Rice.

Let’s take some pitches, foul some off, and make their starter throw a lot of pitches. We get to their bullpen early, and Rice is through.

Texas Texas Yeeeeeee Hawwwww!

What a run-down base running coup!

2-1 us

Way to go Witt!!!

Pitched his way out of a jam. Good movement on everything—especially that breaking ball for the strikeout and third out. Fastball hitting up to 97mph!!! Looks like he’s back to form from late last year.

If I missed it I’m sorry, what is the black glove thing some of them are wearing when running bases?
