Wonder if coach will pull Stevens and give some innings to the new guys / question marks in our pen? Get them some real game experience.
 
Rice desperately needs a catcher who can catch the low stuff. All those past balls will kill them this year. I feel sorry for the poor guy. You don’t always notice it when your catcher is playing well, but boy you sure notice it when he’s stinking up the joint.

Cheo’s son has his work cut out for him. Fielding wise, Rice looks like the Three Stooges at times.
 
Rice needs some competent relievers in their pen, a new catcher, and a lot of fielding practice. Cruz should be able to trade off his name in the Houston area (and elsewhere) for some better recruits. He’s got to get a catcher and build a bullpen to compete. Remember, not that long ago these guys were neck and neck with us for the best team in Texas.

His handicaps—his recruits have to be fairly smart students, and this NIL $$$ stuff isn’t going to do much for Rice players.

So much for trying out the rookies/untested guys at pitcher when we’re up 13-0. Coach went straight to Gordon.

Obvious strategy for tomorrow—

take lots of pitches, foul a lot of balls back, and drive up the pitch count of Rice’s starter, cuz their bullpen really sucks.
