TEXAS-OU Game Thread

Will admit I didn't get to watch because took my girls to the zoo today instead. Listened on the radio, thought we maybe got outcoached by OU's defensive coordinator. Sounded like they were fired up and ready. RJ before Ingram, if it's not certain now, don't know when it will be....

Having said that, feel like we're right where we're supposed to be. Got banged up on D early in the season, other injuries have hampered us, but we're riding one 10 win season while OU has at least 4 seasons in a row with 11 wins and the recruiting to match. Think some warriors were created today, and will be ready to war with OU again in the CCG if we take care of business each week without looking past any team on our schedule. Still feel we're on track to be back in the national picture in the next couple of seasons. This coming class we'll hopefully sign including the next will be the basis for some great teams here. We'll probably lose one more we're "not supposed to" and finish 9-3, but, could be 10-2 going into the CCG (if OU doesn't lose any either). Hats off to OU, proud of our guys for gutting it up and leaving it all out on the field! Hook 'em!

I don’t know. No interceptions. No fumbles. Two running TDs. Under pressure much of the day. Nine sacks. More than one drop on perfect passes: Jake Smith & CJ to name two.

For someone who is supposedly hurt, I thought he played one heck of a game.

Don't forget the pass - HUGE juggle / drop by Eagles at mid-field that would have been a 99 yard TD - maybe change the 2nd half dynamics !!!I

made an honest game of it despite our mistakes and faced the best QB we'll face all year.

HOOK 'EM!

Disagree. Hurts is a decent running QB but a poor passer. He will get exposed later in the year against better defenses.

The best 2 QBs Texas faces this year are Burrows at LSU and Bowman at Texas Tech. Bowman is injured but will be back at the end of the season when we play them.

Agree on Burrows. Tech doesn't have the D to help whoever is the Tech QB.

From game: 1, poor tackling cost us the game, that and Lamb running wild.
2, I thought Sam had the clearance to change play at scrimmage, if so he had a poor game because several times their defense gave him running lanes and he either picked running into their strength or a pass that was coveted. I mean when their in max coverage with three rushers, like our third down at the 6(?), no way he couldn’t score on a qb draw.
3, like I’ve said before - throw the damn ball to CJ. How many times does he have to show he can go get it!!!!
4, 25, Foster is playing hurt, no way he plays that tentative normally, should NOT have been on the field.
And 5; my first RRS and I’ll tell you not my last, what an environment, just pissed OU sux is still better than we are, better coached, better players.

Agree on CJ except for the right in his hands could go for a touchdown inexplicable drop that he had.

Field position was critical and Texas put themselves behind the 8 ball every possession in the 1st half.
I agree 100%. Why was Jamison fielding punts and not Kickoffs? Jamison was remove from Punt returns last year because he could'nt
field a punt letting it roll for 20 yards. This was his first punt return this year. Result, he did not field the punt and it rolled for 20 yards.

He HAS be the kick off returner and was making good decision on when and when not to run it out with a return TD. So they put in Duv in a KO returner with the result you posted.

I do not understand these decisions.

CJ did miss one, a big one too, but jeez that pales compared to what he’s done and you have to compare to Epps and Eagles, sooooo there ya go. Not saying they may not become as good, but they’re not there yet.

Not disagreeing, CJ is amazing, but man that play could have changed the outcome. Momentum, etc.

HiC, this is what I said about the ou defense.

What concerns me is due to their easy schedule to date, ou has not had to show their entire defense portfolio yet, and their DB's cannot be as bad as they have shown. As many have said, a 20+ point win by ou would not surprise me.

I think we were outplayed and out coached by OU. Just wanted that out first. Now, when are we going to get the refs to call the game equally. Sam was hit by a classic targeting just like Cosmi was last week. The refs were totally silent, no review on either. They could put pictures of both hits in Wikipedia as an example of targeting. Still waiting on the first call. In addition, OU was holding, pushing and shoving our receivers on every play with very few called. Jake Smith was hit in the face guard just before the ball arrived, that is why he missed it. No call. I could list many more. Our dbs were not close enough to the OU receivers to even commit the same interference's.

Herman did not have his team ready to play. How do you teach tackling. Lamb scored twice with 4 and 5 of our players unable to tackle him. The has been a season long dilemma.

He did but I don’t think he is 100%. He was under a lot of diress, no QB could be successful under that much pressure. But he played well, I agree. His supporting cast and his ribs made it difficult for him.

What I didn't like was they hit us in the mouth and we didn't respond. They were the more physical team on both sides of the ball. We take great pride in being the more physical team. Didn't happen today.

As some have stated, there were some critical dropped/missed catches that could have made a difference. Regardless, we were outplayed in terms of intensity. They made the plays and we didn’t. I’m good with where we are at as a program with regard to direction. Lots of young players, a bit more than a smattering of injuries (not endemic in my view) and still suffering with a the learning curve (experience plays a role).
Half a recruiting class in Herman’s first year with two excellent classes after that. A few upperclassman players mixed in that buoyed us last year. This year we’ve got some young studs that are growing and gaining game experience. If we can get some health and maintain the right psyche I’m thinking we could be pretty damn salty by bowl time and maybe even by the B12 championship.

I think most on this board agree with this general sentiment, but we're all just so sick of losing to OU and watching them rack up B12 Championships, Heisman Trophies and playoff appearances.

Let's just return the favor from last year. Win in December and today will all be forgotten.
